I have the Emporia, and you can hardwire or plug. Per code, you can't do 48A setting with a 60 amp breaker with the plug due to the plug's lower rating. But the cable gauge is the same. The ability to "disconnect and connect" with the plug is what gives the lower rating. The cable is rated for 60A breaker/ 48A setting.

My ChargePoint Homeflex work perfectly putting out 9.6 kWh and will charge the 580 from 20-100% in 10 hours.
I want to see what the Mercedes box can do plus it would be nice to see the Mercedes Box on the wall next to a Mercedes.

It will do exactly the same thing but it does't have the convinient plug holder that the chargepoint has. Lest anyone forget, regardless what charger you get the max any EQ will charge in the US is 9.5 kw. The reason for that is simple, 11.5 KW is 50 amps which requires a hardwired, 60 AMP circuit install. It's more expensive and less convinient. Personally I would have done it since its just a little more pricey than the 50 amp circuit but for most people it would have been another hoop to jump through. The whole idea of chrging at home is to make charging from a very low state of charge the exception rather than the rule. In general I charge when it between 40 and 50% . In summer I charge to 80 in winter to 90. If I'm going on a road trip I fill it to100 since I live in an area of the country where the DC infrastructure is still poor.

I installed a 3rd EV charged in my garage and went with the Tesla Universal Wall Charger. It's the most sensible choice at this point. The Mercedes Wall Box is already obsolete.

The CCS is a universal charger too. Both require an adapter to serve the other standard. Tesla used to provide a CCS plug for all their cars since they have alwas been CCS compatible. However, to corner the charger market they didnt allow CCS adapters on their network.

Just want to share My Mercedes wall box experience, it is almost perfect,
after 2hr of 40A charging 9.3kw, garage temperature is about 60F (5:45am to 7:45am)
wall box and cable, both are still cold, charge handle is cool-warm. charging amp stays 9.3kw through out the end.

v.s. Porsche charge connect(no recall update to default 20A)

about the same temperature (5:45am to 7:45am)
Porsche charge connect unit is close to "hot" after only 1hr of charge. cables are warm and toward to charger handle is warm-hot. charger handle is close to "hot". I would describe it like the coffee you can drink it without burning your month that kind of hot.
porsche charge connect not able to do full speed charge. charge rate will decrease from 9.3kw to 7.6kw after 30min and continue 7.6 for the rest. I am not sure it is due to the temperature or other reason. because it never happen when I charge my taycan

it is pretty easy. If you have breaker and gauge 6 wires ready. Mine was previously setup, only need to extend the wire.

However, it requires another app during setup, call EVBox install to connect WiFi, adjust amp and some features. Not sure why but annoying. Other this others are good

I'm hoping that Chargepoint will offer a new cable with a NACS handle which we can retrofit. They already sell replacement cables with handles so don't see why they couldn't do that with an NACS handle. My chargers are pretty much set in rock so it would be inconvenient to switch brands at this point.

What for? Tesla sells an adapter (it used to be free).
https://shop.tesla.com/product/ccs-c...hrishuerta.com
Im certain all manufacturers will be offering some version of that not to mention aftermarket ones.
Your CCS should be fine for practically forever. MB will not change to Tesla plugs at least for 2 years plus your present car will always be CCS....

That's a pretty cool wall, by the way. You chisel another hole for another one, no problem, right? Did you curve your garage into the side a of hill, or what?

No my wife who is an interior designer, hired the guy who builds sets for Star Wars to make that rock wall. And yes - I can have that guy back if I need to install a different charger. He can resculpt sections if needed.

Just finish installing the wall charger and setting it up. I saw the internal of the Mercedes wall box and It built pretty good. Much better than the ChargePoint. All the internal components are big not like the ChargePoint.

9.5KWh. Output. Same as the Homeflex.
Non wall plug, direct wires hook up only. there’s a plug that is capped off could be used for an optional wall plug.

what I don’t like about this wallbox is that you can’t set the start and end time for charging. The setting is very limited.

Does anyone with the Mercedes Wallbox know how to set the energy price inside the Mercedes Me connect app? I can’t use the decimal point to set .23 kWh. Only whole number.

you need to enter 0 then .xx
start and end time is always better to use the one that is in your EV (for our EQS, EQ menu> charging> charge pause option). (that is what people say. i honestly dont care as long as either charger or EV provides it)

Very strange, I tried that last night adding an “0” or “.” and it didn’t work. Just now try it and it work.
Thank you!

I also leased a Mercedes EQS around December 18th, but I haven't received the Mercedes Wall Charger.

Do I have to have to do any steps in order to get the Wall Charger or did the dealership do any things for you to get Wall Charger? My Dealership doesn't seem to have knowledge and he tells me it should come from Mercedes but I dont have any contact to check status on it.

Thank you.

I think it is more like a gift, if you didn't ask when you sign the doc, it is not part of the deal.

Manu,

I sent you a private message with more information on how to receive the free Wall Box. Your dealer should have given you a similar sheet to order your Wall Box. If I remember correctly, the vehicle had to be purchased in a 2 week window in December to qualify, but you have 60 days to claim the Wall Box. This offer was directly from Mercedes and not from the dealer. As a side note, my dealer did give me a level one charger with my vehicle for no charge (that was from the dealer, not from Mercedes). I'm sure they have had a lot of people disappointed that there one wasn't included with the vehicle. I carry the level one charger in the car for emergencies, but hope to never use it.

Nick

I had my electrician install a Grizzle-e box on an RV hookup pole, works great for my car and wife's e-tron

I got a wallbox when I bought mine, but it wasn't the MB version. They also gave me 2 MB coffee cups and what seems to be a light blue back seat cross stitch blanket. It all came in a nice MB EQ log box. Not as nice as a LV handbag box, but not like an Amazon box either.

Thank you so much for the link. I was able to place the order for Mercedes Wallbox after entering my VIN number.

Hey Nick - going to send you a PM a well to see if you can help me. Just leased eqb300 yesterday, and my salesman told me I'm lucky because I leased it on the last day I was eligible to get a free wallbox. But I didn't get any paperwork - I guess I was assuming it would be sent to me - if you have a link can you please also PM it to me thank you!. Concerned though because you are saying it was only a 2 week window.

go to this link and try your Vin number and see if it goes through. If not, then wait a few days and try again. Takes about 2-3 days from vehicle purchase to allow you to redeem.
