Using Tesla's charging network

Fantastic videos, full of the latest news. Thanks so much for posting. I'm getting excited that this may actually happen soon.....however, knowing the nature of Musk and the MB execs, I will try and temper my expectations for now. Fingers are still crossed, tho!

I don't know why people kept saying adapter would be a complex one, the info was out there. Tesla have been using CCS standard in their chargers for a while (v2 and above I think) so adapter was just for wiring. The handshake was already the usual standard which does allow for restricting access based on certificates from what I understand.
However I am not sure how useful will Tesla stations will be in Seattle area. The few I have seen while travelling were really busy already on the weekends. We really need more chargers here.

Will Tesla's app allow you to start the charger using this adapter?

Yeah I thought it was just about Elon being a control freak but apparently the problem is communication between the car and the chargers themselves. The image of Telsa Superchargers being more reliable may be shattered if all 800V vehicles start doing the "signet bounce" or fail to charge at all.

In the video he explains that Tesla chargers will probably open up to Ford first, since they have already made a deal, then probably GM. Mercedes and the rest will follow, whenever the deals are closed allowing the Tesla chargers to recognize them. However, I think magic dock chargers allow anyone to charge, just as EA and Chargepoint do. Would seem most logical that Elon would just do that with all his chargers, but who knows..... I'll be happy to buy his adapter and pay his $.40/kWh.

just got my EQE SUV over the weekend and I'm glad to see the Superchargers slowly coming online for the different brands. Now if we can just have that damn adapter...

Tesla Network
Out of Spec reviews has a new video as of today showing a F150 Lightning with a prototype adapter at a regular Tesla supercharger non-magic dock charging successfully. Which probably means Ford is the first one to gain access.

I don't think Tesla owners are so happy about it. At the end of the Out of Spec video a guy pulls up next to Kyle and he looks like he's ready to fight! I guess I get it, not only are they losing their exclusivity but with the charge port being on the wrong side they're also literally/physically being blocked from charging their own vehicles. It's going to be an interesting transition.

"The key to vastly superior charging experience"... "uh, we got the red ring of death", "we got the red ring of death again, trying a different charger", "red ring of death on other charger too", "call Ford for Help!"
Sounds about the same to me. So I'm about ready to buy a Tesla Model X. Tesla even offers insurance here in Texas so I can stop letting Geico rip me off.

I don't like the look of any Tesla but the Model S, and the interior is way too spartan and cold for me. I also hate their design implementations for turn signals etc. So, no Tesla for me.

The Plaid S is a beast. Owns the streets if that’s your cup of tea. Eats super cars up.
Tesla charging network will bring in BILLIONS for the company. Tesla is miles ahead overall of every other company in the EV world. I recently drove the Lucid air software not as good as Tesla but the ride was the best to date of any luxury EV.
