Hello, I have 2 questions regarding the EQS windshield blocking radio waves (except for the two permeable zones). My golf club is in a gated community and they are updating the gate system. The new gate system requires a bar code be applied to the inside upper left corner of the windshield. My owners manual, see below, states that I should be able to see the permeable areas with an external light. I cannot see these areas with an external light. My questions are:
1) Do all EQS's (mine is a 2022 450+) have this type of windshield?
2) Has anyone placed an RFID tag/barcode on their windshield in a non-permeable position and have it work?

The laser that reads the bar code will penetrate the glass just fine anywhere on the windshield. If you want to test it, simply attach the bar code with tape instead of sticking it (if possible) and give a test run.

My radar detector and toll road transponder are on the windshield, and it worked fine.
Mine does not work in the space allotted about 3-4 inches to the right of the rearview mirror. I called Ez Pass in Ohio and I was told to place the transponder in the bottom of the windshield on driver’s side. I can’t test this until late July on our next trip to near Akron, OH from Des Moines.
If you look from the outside with a flashlight or at just the right angle from inside you can make out the openings for the RF signal to pass through. I have my EZ pass in the opening to the right of the rear view mirror (live in Ohio, 2 miles from the toll road) and it works.

My transponder was definitely in that rectangular slot. I had EZ Pass in OH send me a new transponder last year and I’m still having problems.
There is another thread where we discussed this in detail. I too had problem with the toll transponder being read when inside the little rectangle. I put it on the sunroof and it works flawlessly.
I thought about that too ... does it interfere with the sun shade?
mine does not. It’s thin enough to not interfere. Now, I used extra strong Velcro because in summer if you are parked out it will come off so I used Velcro that is good until 150 temperature or something like that.
I have problems using my EZpass (NY-NJ) with both of my 2023 EQS 450 SUV and 2023 EQS 450+. I believed the EZpass tag may be at fault because the two locations suggested by MB were not working most of the time. I ended up using an external tag mounted on the front license plate.
It was very frustrating.
