Photos for everyone. Love the new grille and hood star. Wish it could be retrofitted because I have no appetite for another ride down the EQS depreciation curve.

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
  • Revised front fascia with new grille design, Mercedes-Benz standing star and AMG Line bumper
  • Larger 118-kWh battery for improved electric range
  • New standard and optional features elevate comfort for rear passengers
Mercedes‑Benz continues to develop the EQS Sedan and its portfolio of all-electric vehicles with new updates and innovations incorporated more quickly than ever before. For 2025 model year, the EQS Sedan introduces numerous upgrades with a new larger battery for increased electric range, refined front fascia featuring a new grille design and Mercedes-Benz standing star on the hood, as well as new standard and optional equipment to enhance comfort for rear passengers. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQS Sedan arrives at U.S. dealerships later in 2024.

All 2025 EQS Sedan models benefit from an all-new battery with an increased usable capacity of 118 kWh for improved electric range. In addition, new regenerative braking software enables greater energy recuperation.

Due to the high proportion of recuperation with regenerative braking, the brake discs in the EQS Sedan are used less often during regular driving compared to models with combustion engines. A special function helps maintain the brake system by automatically applying the pads to the discs from time to time.

Modern styling combined with the iconic Mercedes star

A distinguishing feature of Mercedes‑Benz all-electric vehicles is the deep black panel grille, which connects seamlessly with the headlights. The design of the EQS Sedan is now refined with a unique front fascia. The new grille design features flush-mounted chrome slats for an elegant contrast to the deep black surroundings. A new standing star on the hood – unmistakably Mercedes-Benz – and a standard AMG Line bumper provide further visual refinement.

Other exquisite details are also reflected in the interior of the EQS Sedan. Chrome accents now adorn the climate control vents on the B-pillars. The comfort pillows for rear passengers are enhanced with contrast stitching and Nappa leather piping.

Expanded rear comfort features

EQS Sedan models equipped with the optional Pinnacle Trim with Executive Interior Package feature a front passenger seat that can also fold forward to provide additional space for second row occupants, along with a backrest for the rear seat that can be adjusted up to 38 degrees. Rapid heating rear seats, neck and shoulder heating for rear passengers, as well as pneumatic adjustment of the rear seat depth are also included. Another exclusive element is the illuminated trim accents integrated into the back of the front seats.

Enhanced comfort also extends to the standard rear seats in the EQS Sedan. The angle of the backrest for the rear seats can be adjusted from 27 to 36 degrees at the touch of a button, and an additional 0.2 inches of foam has been added to the rear seat backrest. The layered design also visually emphasizes the individual comfort for passengers.

Did you know?…

...the MBUX Hyperscreen is standard on the EQS Sedan, as of 2024 model year. Three displays merge almost seamlessly into one another, creating a curved screen band over 55 inches wide.

...the standard heat pump increases climate comfort and efficiency. The waste heat from the electric drive (inverter and electric motor) and high-voltage battery can be used to heat the interior. This significantly reduces the need to utilize battery power for the heater and increases electric range.

...the Disconnect Unit (DCU) in 4MATIC models automatically decouples the electric motor on the front axle depending on the driving situation and the required performance. At low loads, the DCU switches to 4x2 driving mode. The electric motor and transmission on the front axle then come to a standstill, which increases electric range.

...the recuperation level of the EQS Sedan has been increased. The greater deceleration (up to 3 m/s2) means more energy recovered and therefore a greater range. Mercedes‑Benz has also optimized the braking system, starting with the 2024 EQS Sedan, for a better pedal feel thanks to a modified brake force cylinder.

...many updates to the EQS Sedan were made using over-the-air technology (OTA). These include, for example, DolbyÒ Atmos, the YouTube web app and a digital travel guide.

...the EQS Sedan can be easily started and locked with the standard KEYLESS-GO comfort package and Digital Vehicle Key1 with compatible devices2. Key sharing is also possible.

...other models with the EVA 2 fully electric architecture (EQS Sedan, EQS SUV, EQE Sedan, EQE SUV) will also benefit from many of these improvements.

Seems like they got rid of the sports grille and only have the traditional with the upright star. I'm a fan - wish they had done it that way in the first place.

Interior changes appear minimal. The photos show the rear seat entertainment and Burmester 4D sound system which was in the original launch photos but never offered in the 2022-2024 models.

Looks like a worthwhile improvement, still not a fan of the shape, but looks like perhaps some interior quality improvements too?

Only difference I see is the extra seat cushion, but that's already offered in the 2024. Front seat move forward? It already automatic moves the front seat forward but not in the lounge position for the 23'. As for exterior, that is just weird with the front camera offset from center? It looks like it wants to be an S class front end. No thanks.

Rear Entertainment is available for USA for the 2024 MY.

Changes look nice. We'll see how much the executive interior changes like rear memory seats make it though the lineup.

The expanded battery is aleady in 2024 SUVs and with the addition of heat pump at front motor disconnect, adds 36 miles to RWD and 45 to AWD. So hoefully 30+ added miles of range to Sedan. I'd love to see rated range of 385-390 miles on EQS450+, who knows what that could translate to real world.

It does want to be an S Class, thats kind of the whole point lol

Sales are very poor, so they are trying to get more customers like me to be interested in the car.

Watching the video posted, it’s interesting to me how just the grille change and the hood ornament makes the car more attractive.

Still, even with that manufaktur interior no leather stitched airbag cover

If I wanted an S-Class, I would have gotten one, not a car that wants to be an S-Class. But you know, the bean counters will always says the customer is right.

You can’t buy an EV S Class, that’s the point. This car sells very poorly, in fact my dealer has stopped ordering EQS sedans for inventory entirely because they sell so poorly, that’s why MB made this emergency change outside of a refresh year.

I’m excited for the 26 refresh where supposedly the car is going to become much more upright and traditional looking.

And yeah, they’re in the business of selling cars so the customer is always right.

Truly hate the hood ornament. Detracts from the the sculpted by the wind design. I really like the jellybean one bow design.

I, too, think that in order to be a "sports" sedan, it has to be the new jellybean, fastback, or whatever you want to call it. You can say that's subjective, too, I guess.

If they offered an EV S-class in its current 3 compartment form, I would have said not for me; the tablet displays was a deal breaker especially for an "s class." When I see an ornament on top of a hood, I think 70s retro. I don't recall any AMG with an hood ornament, but I could be overlooking. I don't get the attractiveness of a hood ornament; perhaps that's why I've been a bimmer guy for so long. RRs have hood ornament, but it also retracts ts that it can't be easily stolen.

And everyone is OK with the front camera offset like that?

The interior is awesome. But the exterior is fugly and unappealing. That fake front grill is so cheesy and cheap looking.
The entire body style is subpar Mercedes.

Eye of the beholder. I think it's gorgeous.....very interested! As far as being an S, I've always ignored the detractors. My Cayman was not a real Porsche. My M4 convertable was not a real M car due to the top. My M550 was not a real M car because the badge had too many digits. Etc, etc.....

S Class AMG up until 2020, any other AMG Sedan up until about 2010 example W211 E63 AMG, W203 C Class AMG, etc.

That's not happening in 2026. The EQS will get a further refresh next year with electric motors designed in house and an 800v charging system. The traditional electric S-class isn't coming until 2028.

Good timing, hopefully you get the new powertrain to go along with it. The bigger battery with the new motors and 800v system is going to be great.

I actually think the Hood Star and Classic Grille works better if you insist on having a fake grille.

The issue is there should be no grille at all. I would like this car to look something like a Panamera. No Grille. Star Emblem on the hood like the EQXX. Slightly more sports car shape than Jellybean like what Porsche did when they replaced the Gen1 Panamera with the Gen 2.
