Break squeal

On my 580 EQS, I noticed today that every time I apply break, I hear a squeal. Odometer is only 5K miles and I’m not a harsh driver.

Are the break pads gone already?

Extremely unlikely, in my opinion. I've seen a number of instances on this forum where errant brake noises are "resolved" by a couple REALLY HARD applications of the brake. I suppose this action removes debris, rust, etc that could be the reason for this noise. Easy enough to try...

I have read that, because the engine braking is so good on these cars, MB is installing software on some new cars to apply the brakes periodically to remove rust and debris from the brake pads, which are not used as much as on ICE cars. I agree, a couple of hard stops using your foot on the brake should fix your problem.

Sometimes the squealing is not the pad/rotor interface, but the pad shimmying in the caliper. There are lubricants available that are intended to reduce the shimmy and noise, but my brakes have never squealed and I have no experience with these products. I think there was a technical service bulletin published applicable to some AMG vehicles that prescribed adhesive membranes be installed between the pad and caliper to hold the pad more securely. You might try searching the forum for "brake squeal" and find more info about this.

It is possible you have a defective brake pad. It's happened to me before...pad had cracked, causing it to squeal.

Ive had a small pebble lodge between the disc and the tin inside cover. It drove me nuts but after a few miles it worked itself out.
