Tire recommendations for EQS 580 Sedan - Michelin vs Continental

I have barely hit the 10k miles mark on my EQS580 and my rear tires are almost bald, I was hoping the tire stock Bridgestone Turanza's to last 15-20k at least but this is very disappointing to see them give up at 10k miles.

I'm strongly considering just going for the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 as I have had that in my BMW 750 in the past and I absolutely loved them. However I do see some good reviews for the Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus hence I thought let me see what the fellow members in this forum recommend out of these 2. I understand that neither of these are electric vehicle tuned, so I would appreciate inputs on your experience with range loss with these high performance tires or if you have a totally different recommendation I welcome that too.

FYI: Michelin's are about $406 each and Continental's are $346 each. So overall about $200 saved by going with continental's

Wow. My tires are in pretty good shape as in look fairly new and I am at 8500 miles. I wonder if your alignment is off or if the Bridgestone is a bad tire. I have the Pirelli P Zero AS Run-flat

Statistically EVs are more likely to have a flat tire than non-EVs. Something to do with the extra weight. I am glad to have run-flats.

Holy Cow! I've got close to 27K on my car, and the tires look great. They are Goodyear F1Asymmetric 5's. Probably have another 10-12 K on them. I have always had good luck with Michelin, and never thought I would recommend a Goodyear tire, but here I am. I had the Conti's on my M4 in the past and did not like the traction, or the rough ride. I would recommend, between those two, to go with the Michelins, which we had in the past on my wife's E350, and loved them. However, if you are not sport driving, you might consider the Goodyear Asymmetric F1 5's.

I'm a Michelin fan. I just ordered a set ps 4s for my 580. As you my winters had worn badly, it turned out the car needed alignment. The winter michelins I used this winter suffered almost no wear despite taking the car on a 4000 mile road trip.

I have historically been a Michelin fan, but I don't think it makes sense on the EQS. The two best tires IMO are the:
Goodyear Asymmetric Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 RFT (Summer Max Performance)
Pirelli P Zero AS RFT (All-Season Ultra High Performance)

The Goodyear is a surprising impressive tire and it has excellent range which is the differentiator vs the Michelin.

There is no Continental tire I would consider.

The PS 4s is an an mercedes optimized EV tire (MO)
Its the EQS AMG tire. It is the same size as the F1 so the range difference is minimal, it is however better than the F1 in all "sporty" parameters. I agrree the OEM F1 is also a good tire, its just a matter of degree. Ill let you know if it makes much difference or not.

Thank you all for the input, the Goodyear tires don't work for me because those are summer tires and I do need all seasons, I live in Salt Lake City Utah and we do get decent amount of snow. The weather is also a reason why I shortlisted Michelin and Continental's as they are superior in winter conditions vs other brands. I was reading several tesla forums to see how their experience was with Michelin and Continentals and from what I read it looks like people love the Michelin's but experience around 10% range loss for the added performance and grip but with Continentals they seems to see slightly lower range loss but similar amount of driving performance.

I was also wondering if I should try to Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires (they are fairly new and limited user reviews) but I will have to go wider, current tire size is 265/40R21 but PS EV tires are available in 275/40R21. Not sure if any of you have an idea about those?

Cross shop at https://www.mbusatirecenter.com/.

Each dealer sets their own prices so check all dealers in your vicinity.

I just got a set of winter tires for next season with their buy 3 get 4th for a $1 promo from last month. It was a killer deal. Normal prices can be cheaper than your local tire shop who will price match.

Wow, that is awful! I've used DWS for many years, including on our EQS. We have about 12,000 miles on the DWS. They still have 7-8 32nds remaining. So I think it is reasonable we'll get 20k out of them. I'll put the junk OEM summer tires on the car next summer for the season, after our DWS are worn out.

Tires

On my EQS AMG I went with Michelin EV all season tires as a replacement for the OEM Yokohama summer tires that gave out at about 15k miles. I am very happy with my new tires they seemed to have improved my range also.

I have the Continental tires on my 450+ sedan and really like them. Just turning 27k miles and they still look good with about 50% tread left. I am a conservative driver and regularly achieve range approaching 400 miles.

Those Pilot Sport EV, look like a variation of the PS 4s MO. They have the "quiet ring" layer which was the MB addition to the PS 4.

Are the EV tires all season?

My original Pirelli all seasons have 15K miles and it still have 6-7/32. I drive my EQS fast. my average hwy speed is 80-85. I do mostly 90% hwy.

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. I spent a lot of time researching other EV forums (Tesla, Hyundai and Porsche) to see how other EV owners felt especially since some of those brands have had EVs selling in higher volume since several years and here is the summary (note: my research was on all seasons and did not include summer tires) - If pure winter driving and all year round comfort and performance is more important than range then Michelin Cross Climates won hands down (Range loss observed ~20%), but if you are wanting a decent winter grip and aspire a sporty performance then Continental Extreme Contact DWS & Michelin Pilot Sport All Season are pretty much neck to neck where the owners are very happy overall.

With both Michelin and Continental I see some owners stating they did not see much range loss but equally saw several report anywhere from 5%-20% of range loss. Most of their experiences are not straight forward as some changed the wheels along with tires, some changed tire sizes, some changed as they entered colder weather etc. which makes comparison very hard. However, overall I saw more owners with Michelin's report higher range loss vs Continentals (this is really marginally I think and can vary based on driving habits).

This morning I pulled the trigger on getting a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus, they were about $345 per tire. I'll report back once I put some good amount of miles on them. My initial impressions coming from the stock Bridgestone Turanza's - The car instantly feels a lot more plush and grip levels while cornering at higher speeds is significantly higher, road noise feels similar or slightly lower. I feel good about these, hoping for a superior performance in wet conditions too (something that was praised by all reviewers for DWS tires). The tread looks aggressive and sporty along with a perception of deeper tread.

I will say this though, there were several call outs from owners in this and other forums for Pirellis, Michelin PS EV and Hankook Ion's. Not all of them have the exact match for the size I was looking for but seemed worth considering if you are shopping for EV tires.
