Selling a very nicely specced EQS580

I find it hard to characterize 60% depreciation in two years as great. It emphasizes what a failed experiment the EQS has been. Mercedes should be totally embarrassed. MB Finance must be bracing for a huge loss as early adopters start returning cars at lease end. Porsche is facing the same challenge with its Taycan.

I agree. I am ready to put my EV days behind me and put an end to stressful road tripping, but I really want to avoid recognizing the unrealized depreciation loss. I decided to hold on to my EQS SUV and ride its value down to $20K over the next couple of years. Then I can gift the car to one of my grandsons and effectively convert the depreciation loss to a tax-free gift to a family member rather than a windfall gain to a stranger.

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
To be honest while the depreciation was a huge hit, the 2 year lease on my EQE AMG SUV is the opposite. Probably the best TCO of any 6 figure car I will have owned outside of the ones that went up in value during the pandemic.
My takeaway is these EQ cars are the best cars you can buy. For me the depreciation was painful, but the general ownership and driving experience was superlative. I never had range anxiety - in fact it was better than a petrol car because with petrol cars I sometimes need to go somewhere but haven't got petrol in the car. With the EV it is always charged. I never do road trips longer than 3 hours, and I find I could go anywhere within that range in my EQS and easily find charging at the other end. And the driving experience was absolutely amazing. The handling, the smoothness, the acceleration, and the sheer brilliance of the technology that just works flawlessly.
FWIW I am really enjoying my EQE AMG SUV. It has some pluses and minuses to the EQS580 but both are amazing cars.

I have nearly the identical car in a 23 model with the exception of the winter package. I love it. I figure I am going to hold onto this car for quite a while, thus easing the depreciation somewhat, at least in my mind. I only use it half the year as it’s garaged in my winter home in Florida. I just bought a 24 GMC Acadia Denali for my summer home and really like that car as well. Got it with Supercruise, which actually works quite well and you don’t have to put your hands on the steering wheel unless you want to override the hands free driving.

Hello TR_EQS did you buy new or CPO? I am in the market for a 2022 or 23 EQS 450+ and wanted to know what the CPO warranty extension costs on those cars.
CPO comew with 1 year unlimited miles I am considering extending that to 3 year. Do you know how much that is selling for?
