EQS 580
Software update.
I'm still waiting for my new EQS. It's in the service for 4 software updates since 4 days. How long does it take for the updates?

It depends on the update, I seen updates go for 8 hours to 16 hours or more on MBs. The connection speed also influences that and if MB servers are purposely throttling certain connections.

2023 EQS 580 Sedan
Mine took 2 days in the shop. Like a computer, it stopped downloading midstream a few times and had to be reloaded. Be patient. It’s worth the shop updates vs the minor tweaking of OTA updates.

My car with the hyperscreen took almost 2 days. All three screens in hyperscreen cars must be done separately you can not run the updates concurrently per my service advisor.

Interesting, that is way more than the 16 hours I heard. At the same time I am not surprised but agree, good things comes to those who wait.

It’s not just the screen, modules need to be individually updated, like rear steer, driver door, rear seat controls, EQE/S has over 185 modules each takes about 45 mins to updated and 10 mins to check.

That explains it.

Curious with the source of mentioning there are 185 modules because I always wondered how many modules do these computer on wheels have.

2022 EQS 580 Nautical Blue Macchiato interior.
Suggestions on how to get dealer to upgrade to latest software
2022 EQS 580 which is on 330…. Understand there are later system upgrades to be done? Talked to service department & they indicated my car is all set.
Had the communication update in July OTA. They did update the system last November to above mentioned revision. Is this usual or is my theory that they are a legacy manufacturer dealer & if it is not a revenue, no need to allocate a person for the task? If so, any advice on updating to latest rev?

My vote: Do you have complaints that warrant a visit and diagnosis? If so, make a service appointment, and they will run a scan to ensure all software is up to date to “fix” your complaint. Basically these cars are computers on wheels, so they try software before hardware in my experience. Mine had two pages of required updates that popped up after I complained about the well known “transmission clunk” at 25mph on cold start. Good luck but you have to force their hand.

Pretty much every major component is its own module, so you have things like the left and right headlight modules. The power train and charge system have a lot of modules. If you really want to know, ask the dealer for the Xentry report after each shop visit. This will list any modules updated during the visit. A major update report will be many pages long.
