rattle in overhead console

My EQS has developed a rattle in the overhead console. It is sort of a buzzing sound like plastic is vibrating against something. I've twice asked service about it, but they said both times it was outside of the one year 'adjustment' period, and the tech was afraid he was going to break the console taking it off. I feel like I should not have to just live with this sound in my ear...the car is still almost new. I have a good relationship with my SA and don't want to be a demanding jerk customer, but would like this fixed. Any thoughts on what you would do?

I've taken apart plenty of trim parts, and looked at taking it off myself to figure out what is broken inside. This style of part is different than previous generation cars that you could slip a credit card in the backside to release the console, or the even older style that had twist clips. I also felt like I was going to break it by applying enough force to remove it. Has anyone removed this style of part, and what was the way to release it?

1 year adjustment period? That is BS. The car has 4 year 50,000 warranty. You should push further, find a new SA, or find a new dealer. They're being lazy and don't want to chase down rattles.

I suggest OP should switch the MB dealership if the current one is not helping.

Some SMs don’t want to chase down rattles, so get your dealer’s GM involved. They have influence with both SM and MB. After adjusting plastic parts multiple times, getting Germany involved, and finally replacing all related motor / console parts in first few months of ownership, the plastic pieces and attachment points had been taken apart so many times that my brand new car started to rattle. Lemon Laws vary by state, but GM helped push for MB trade vs buyback but it took months. Be persistent. These aren’t cheap cars.

If that doesn't work, google review.

Answering my own question, in case anyone else has this issue....I was able to finally remove the overhead console. Surprisingly, Mercedes did not know how to do it, or at least the tech who worked on it. You take a thick credit card, and wedge it into the rear center of the console, between the headliner and console. Push really hard. That unlocks the spring mechanism you see in the photo below. It almost falls out of the ceiling once this is released. This seems to be the same setup as previous S class, so I'm surprised the tech did not know how it worked. Regarding the buzz/rattle, it is within the unit itself, and not anything obvious on the outside of the component. I tried taking it apart further, but could not--not meant to be taken apart. So, I'll go to see my SA today, and try to convince him that it needs to be replaced. The problem is that the sound is very subtle outside of the vehicle with the console sitting on my counter, but loud when driving as you can tell from my video.

I’m wondering if there’s any follow up to this issue. I have the same overhead console assembly in my 2025 E class (W214) and a similar rattle. Took it to the dealer and they installed some felt tape to increase the tension on the retention clips once reinstalled, but I think something inside is rattling, as you also guessed.
