I just received an email from MB of St George, Utah thanking me for bringing in my EQS 580 for service. My car is located in SE Florida and I’ve never been in Utah my entire life. Curious as to how they could make a mistake like this? Wrong VIN number? Very odd.

 

Interesting, how do you suppose they got your email address? Just plug the incorrect VIN into MBUSA and bingo they have all your personal data?

 

Good question. Not only do they know I own a EQS 580, they have my email address as well. So much for privacy these days.

 

Some dealerships send emails that lists address and full name, perhaps at least this particular didn't get that?

 

By the way, they can easily look up your real name and maybe address by just running the VIN in their dealership system/network and running a vehicle master inquiry report.
Those list all the services that was done at the dealership for the vehicle and the owner or previous owner name. I am not sure if they changed that but that was how it was.

 

They had my name as well as my email.

 

Ask them for a credit on your service, as you didn't receive it ;-)
