Light Setting in MB App

For the US owners of EQS... Do you have light setting in your MB App?
I have paid the digital extras for a year and I have digital lights. I now have 3 options in light setting in my car - Digital Rain, Pixel Impact and Personal. however the app does not have this setting for me to change the personal pattern.
Multiple source said this feature has been removed in the US version... if you are in the US with digital lights, can you check your app to see if you have personal light setting option?

Thank you.

I think if you click on "Personal" in just the right way, you will get somewhere.
I found the button to be really fussy and had to try numerous times in different spots on the button in order to get it to work.
In the end a double click (!) in the lower right corner of my "customise" box did it.

I think the problem OP is asking about is that the "customize" option no longer appears in the app for EQS owners (well, not for my EQS SUV):

For me, the "customize" button did not appear until my MBUX was upgraded from E330 to RL_NTG7_E504.304_24133AC3.
I was all excited, when I could see the options under "customize". Some were cool.
BUT - the implementation of one's custom selection is so slow and clunky, I have all but given up on it.
When one selects a custom option, one has to be in the car and wait for that option to upload to the headlights...can take a couple of minutes!
If you manage to get by that, then yes, you will see your custom choice. But, you have to go through this upload and wait each time you want to switch, as apparently the headlights can hold only ONE custom choice in memory.
And the most frustrating part is I find the car reverts back to one of the standard options all too frequently. I'm not sure what triggers this reversion...but it happens.

Maybe it's a per-profile setting, and you have more than one driver profile? I'm still on E330 (as you are aware @ScottC2 ), but trying to get the update to 2.6.x (E505) this week. I've even opened a ticket with Mercedes about it. If something magical happens with the customized profile if and when I get the OTA update, I'll post back here.

I have more than one driver profile, but that's irrelevant. I asked MB Support here long ago and they told me when I was on E330 that I needed to have at a minimum "FreshUp4" for the Custom digital welcome display options. At the time, that equated to E504xxx and when they applied that, the customise option appeared.
But you have an interesting point, about profiles...it could just possibly be that switching drivers (with different custom profiles) causes the lights to revert back to their default. I will have to experiment with this!

The "Light Settings" button was always on my car from Day 1 (May 2023). E330.
Even if you didn't have digital lights, I would think the button should exist to get to where you can control exterior and interior lights.

Yeah I have no idea why my app is missing many features. Wonder if there is a way to reset without much mess

looks like you have a way to deactivate key and adjust routes. Not in my app

I’m replying to this thread because I searched for this issue today.

I have an EQS sedan and I used to have this feature working normally. Randomly a month or two ago, the light settings button in the app disappeared. I tried to go through all the car settings and couldn’t find anything to toggle.

I noticed though that my “digital extras” says all activated, but when clicking for details, it says 7/10 for MBUX Comfort. The “Personalization” is one I suspect allows for the light settings, but isn’t one that can be “toggled”.

Screenshots for reference.

I’ve also checked the same place. Mine looks identical to yours and there isn’t any toggle or setting for personalization but still no light setting.
another thread on Reddit some had said MB in the US are removing some of the features, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My screens look/work the same as yours, EXCEPT, that my MBUX Comfort says 8/10 activated, and the "Personalization" listing in the digital extras says "Activated" and has an on/off toggle. If I click on Personalization, mine looks like yours - no options within that.

Have you tried logging on from the MB web site to see your configuration? https://me.mercedes-benz.com. Things look/work a little differently when you're on the web site (use a PC, not your phone).

Yes I have tried all - Car, App and Website. The website does not show Personalization option like yours. however the digital light does show activated.

in the car, user-defined referring me back to the app or portal to select a pattern however it isn't available.

Wow. That's weird. Is your EQS a US Market EQS (and are you in the US)? I've been assuming you're in the US based on your post, but wanted to verify.

Also - just FYI - I do not have the "User Defined" option for my Welcome/Farewell projection options in MBUX like you have. It's simply not there.

Last question for now - what's the production month/year for your 2023 EQS SUV? You can find this on the VIN label in your door jamb (again, assuming you have a US Market EQS)? I'm guessing 04/23 (just guessing based on your VIN).

Thank you for the reply. Based solely on the owner's manual PDF download page for MB USA (see below), it appears we have cars that are "substantially" the same in terms of the MBUX hardware/software/features. They were both manufactured on/after November 2022, but before June 2023. Yet our OTA updates are slightly different (I do not have 2.6), and the options we have in the app/car are slightly different. Strange. I'm going to a dealer 90 minutes away this Thursday to have them look at two problems my local dealer said did not apply to my car. One is that the driver's windshield wipe chatters, despite having tried many things, including multiple sets of new wiper blades and mechanically polishing the windshield (I have video of the problem). The other is the missing 2.6 update. If they successfully apply 2.6 to my car, then I''ll come back here and provide any updates regarding what changes I've seen in the app (after waiting a bit for the new software to percolate).

https://www.mbusa.com/en/owners/manu...5-03-x296-mbux

It's becoming pretty clear to me that there are some software kinks in the earlier builds.

Ok - two more questions for you, @eggyacid:

Do you have the Hyperscreen? I do.

What OTA updates have you received? Keep in mind that my 2023 sat around doing nothing for its first two years. It had just over 500 miles on it when I bought it. My entire list of OTA updates installed is:
05/24/2025 - Software update for the communication module (this was not long after I bought the car)
05/29/2025 - MBUX 2.4 software update
06/21/2025 - Software update for wireless charging system
09/13/2025 - Software Update for Vehicle Charging System
I have no pending updates. "You're up-to-date" is what I see in the app, and MBUX in the car says "No Update Available". My car is properly connected to my home wireless network, and I put a wireless access point in the garage just so the car would enjoy full signal strength.

How does your list compare?

No, I do not have the Hyperscreen. Just the standard 12.8 vertical screen in the middle
I have only received 2 OTA... One was about wireless charging another one recently Occupant Restraint Controller.
Funny how MBUX 2.4 showed Obsolete but 2.4.1 was done at the dealership during my last complaint about wireless CarPlay.

I’m sitting at the dealer, now. They asked me why I was interested in the update (not as a challenge, but just wanting to understand). I told them the Live Alternative Routing would come in handy on trips.

I came in with the PDF from the MB web site where they announced 2.6 back in April. So far, they have not blown me off. Sadly, this is a huge dealership, and there is not one EQS or EQE on the lot. But they do have two fast chargers, so I’m going to top off before I head home (2+ hour drive to get home).

….we’ll see what happens

They did my 2.6.1 update because my wireless CarPlay would drop and won't connect again until car reboots. They said 2.6.1 was released for the exact same reason, it still disconnects from time to time but at least it does not require a reboot to connect again.

Interesting. I’ve never noticed an issue with my wireless carplay, but it could be because I don’t use it very frequently. I have only one reproduceable scenario where I need to reboot (i.e. restart) the car to sort it out. It happens when I ask Hey Mercedes to play the song One Night In Bangkok on Spotify. I don’t know whether the issue is caused by the car or by Spotify. I would love to know if this happens to anybody else. I decided not to bother MB support with this 🤣

Well, they didn't do diddly-squat at the dealership today. 4 hours of driving and 3 hours of waiting, all for nothing.

I know why they didn't do diddly - they have a boatload of cars, new and used, on their lot. No a single one was an EQE/EQS (sedan or SUV). They just don't understand these cars.

To rub salt in my wounds, MB USA emailed me this today, after I opened a ticket three days ago about not getting the 2.6 update:
I hope all is well. I'm reaching out with an update regarding your case from our Tier 2 support team. Following a review of your vehicle’s configuration, Tier 2 has confirmed that the latest over-the-air (OTA) software campaign for the Vehicle Charging System: Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) has been successfully installed. No further action is required at this time.Additionally, your vehicle is currently running MBUX version 2.4, which is fairly recent, and it is correctly registered in our backend systems. When new OTA campaigns become available, you will be notified via both the Mercedes-Benz app and the MBUX multimedia system.

Thank you for contacting Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require further assistance. Mercedes-Benz Digital Extras is available to assist 24/7.

Just got off the phone with MBUSA and was told that some vehicles have had that feature "sunsetted" and there will be a reactivation sometime at the end of November or first part of December. I have a picture of my family on the passenger screen and wanted to change the photo but can't since the option is missing from the MB app.
