Electronic door safety

How do you open the doors on the EQS if the 12V battery is dead? This seems like a crazy unsafe condition if I'm disabled by a crash and a fireman needs to get in or if I need to open the door myself.

You use a card or something flat to fit inside the groove and guide the retracted door handle out, then you insert the emergency key in and turn. The siren will sound upon a successful "unauthorized" entry:https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/owne...-emergency-key

I promise you....the fire dept can get in. My issue would be no one but the fire dept can get in. When seconds count police/fire are minutes (or longer) away.

It also helps that there is a rescue card that MB patent as well.

I promise, when I am playing "Good Samaritan" that is no where near top of mind. It will be like so many other things in life that I could or should have remembered. I work pretty close with my local 911 center and authorities there in. The day to day fire/recscue guys are terrified of the EV's. As we all know their "go to" is to just cut it open (Jaws of Life...etc.). Now with the deadly voltge in the EV's there is a hesitation.

This is all well and good if I'm in my garage. Suppose I crash and there's a fire or other emergency, and the 12V power is dead. How do we get out? Call up Mercedes Service? How does my rear seat passenger get out, assuming there has not been an educational seminar that they remember before each ride?
Let's imagine that breaking a window itself impedes rescue. How does the responder open the door? Ask for my special emergency key?

There isn't a mechanical door release?

All good questions and I do hope you never have to deal with that.

When opening the door from the inside, the release is mechanical.

Thanks that's good to know, I could not find that information elsewhere....but it's still a hazard for someone outside who needs to rescue someone inside.
