Quote: wah finally got the sprint booster today! Its freaking unbelievable. The throttle response is sooooooo much better. Like what SLKFANS said before, i think if i were to take the sprint booster out after a few days, i wouldn't want to drive the car anymore!

Can you advise what is this Spint Booster thingy, what does it do and what cars will it fit

Thanks

I need opinions from Singaporean owners and since this is the thread that is read by almost every Singaporean on the board, I’ve decided to “hijack” it for a while…

My C180K (1.5 years old) has to spend the weekend at C&C (Ubi) for some major work on the AC (thank goodness it’s under warranty). It has been there since Wednesday! I have asked them for a loaner but they said the ones they have are all out. I couldn’t wait 2 weeks for one to be reserved as they have already dismantled the dash board to diagnose the problem so my as well get the work done straight away. Therefore, looks like I will be without a car for a week!!!

I bought a brand new car so that I don’t have to visit the workshop so often… Turns out this is worst than if I had kept my 7 years old SLK!!!

My questions are, in this case, can I rent a car over the weekend (or a week?) and charge the rental to C&C? Anyone here has similar experience with C&C and what was the outcome? What is the best way to go about doing this? Will I win if I go to the Small Claims Court to seek redress in this issue? I am not interested in profiting from this. All I want is a car to use while my car is in the workshop!

EvoW124, I'll be there on my Teg

dgwee, that's a bummer. I also had them replace the AC coils on my E as there was a newer design that will not have the initial mouldy smell upon startup. Also replaced by Audio 20 HU as well due to faulty display. But I timed it to coincide with my overseas trip, so no issue.

Speak to their service manager, and escalate further as required. Since the car is under warranty and it's a Merc, they may provide some arrangements for you.

It's a throttle booster that makes your car much more responsive. It feels like adding an ecu chip to your car although it does not add any power.

It will fit all mercs with drive by wire. Your w211 for sure.

Hi

I think there is some interest among us in retrofitting an Euro Comand that can playback DVD, playback MP3, allow Ipod integration & satellite navigation in our cars.

I have written to Steve of www.MBenzNL.com whose brother indicated that he would be willing to combine a trip/stopover in Singapore when he travels to Korea later this year. He also said that "Steve is willing to go basically anywhere, as long as travel compensations get compensated. He has been to Australia several times, New Zealand. He went to Malaysia once to perform installs on two cars. He went to Korea last year December to do installs on two cars and he went to Hong Kong afterwards for just one customer with one car.

Steve will go back to Korea - later this year, most likely - so it will be easy to combine this future trip with a Singapore visit. But as stated before: travel compensations must be compensated. And the more customers you can get in Singapore, the less your share of travel compensation will be."

I am trying to gauge how much interest is there here in Singapore for a mini-group buy of Steve's products (especially the Euro Comand) and services so that we can arrange for him to do a few cars in Singapore and then share his travel expenses.

We will need to provide them with the car's chassis number, and inform them
when it was manufactured? They need to know so they can determine what parts are needed for a DVD comand + nav.drive upgrade.

This mini-gorup buy won't be easy to organise but please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for your advice. C&C managed to complete the repair on Friday. Alex from C&C was most helpful. He also gave me some taxi coupons to "compensate" the "loss of use" for the few days as he said C&C doesn't pay for rental cars. I am monitoring to see whether the AC problem has been completely rectified.

Hi

I am also thinking about installing the spring booster (aka throttle body device) in my W211. Bernard of BVO at Sin Ming (tel 64551566) showed it to me the other day. He will even let you try it first, drive it round the block before you commit.

Can anyone who has installed it give feedback if it makes the car's throttle response too "twitchy"? The reason I ask is that my W211 is also driven by my CO and I wouldn't want her to complain that the car is too hyper to drive.

Yo DJ... About the spring booster thing. I have a thing to say, from my opinon ya.
For example, when u pressed on the accelerator 20% it will give u say about 50%(assume) power which makes the driver thinks its fast. Which is true. But dont forget when u hit on the accelerator 40% it will give u 100% power which is the max of ur car's engine. So if u hit anything that is above 40% it will be useless. Also when u hit to reverse gear. U know what kind of power is needed for u to reverse into the parking lot. Well even reverse sensors will not helped. hur... So again is it worth the mod! U guys decide ya. Not condemning the product but actually its a good invention but to me i think i will give it a pass... Hehe... This is juz my point of view ya. Dont get me involved in anything.

Cheers...

sybron,

Give it a try, I am sure that Bernard will be more than happy to give you a trial basis on the booster. It makes the drive more responsive...It is worth an investment, like having remap ecu.

The initial phase will be very punchy but after it hits a period of time in terms of mileage, our ecu will adjust its paramters accordingly.

Good Luck !

Just came from Live Telecast of F1 Monaco at Mercedes Centre. Alonso (Renault) came 1st, Montoya (Mercedes McLaren) 2nd. Red Bull 3rd, and BAR Honda came in 4th, I believe.

Pity Raikkonen's (Mercedes McLaren) pushed his engine too hard and failed. He was pressuring Alonso real tight even after their 1st pit stop, keeping a tight 2nd place through till the failure.

Event was very nicely done, including a Monaco casino style games to win chips for Mercedes, Johnny Walker and even Tag Huer items. Catering was great too by Regent, with free flow Johnny Walker amongst others.

Mercedes Centre is certainly living up to expectations! BTW, they're going to have World Cup Kick Off and many other events as well.

I was there too. If only I remember how you look like, I would have popped by to say hello. I hope that PML will also organise events like this when their new car centre opens. I was talking to a BMW owner who said that PML has not been as active as CnC in organising hospitality events recently. The more the agents compete for our custom, the more we as consumers will benefit.

100R & slkfans

Thanks for your advice on the throttle body device. I may ask Bernard for a trial. Actually, my W211 is modded enough already and my brain is telling me not to mod anymore, but my heart keeps asking me to try new mods. Haha.

The one mod that I would really like to do is the satnav Comand mod but this is really expensive at CnC (their price of S$13,000 tells you that they would rather you buy a new car with the satnav Comand already included from them).

Mark,

Jon finally has a new mod, the thermotronic that replaces the conventional round knobs for the air-con control....He is enjoying it.

Sybron, I almost wanted to get the command fitted into my SLK....I hold back and decided to give it a thought whether it make sense besides having the DVD navigation and the DVD playback...The price was a steal, direct purchase from Germany for only 750 Euros, condition is used for 2 months...

Anyway, I am waiting for the fellows from DMS Automotive...they should be here 2 weeks from now.

MBM wheelpower, I saw them installing the command, it was nice and sweet and man, saw the entire Kleemann products on the display shelve including the Kleemann brake kit, Pulley and K-Box...

If you successfully get the comand installed, please let me know. Can MBM Wheelpower instal a comand that can play DVD navigation with Malaysian and Singapore maps? There is no point in instaling the comand if we cannot have Malaysian and Singapore maps software that are frequently updated from time to time. In that case, we might as well just buy a Garmin, TIBO, Vitos or some other after market GPS system that is portable some more (just that it is not as flushed as a comand navigation system).

DVD playback is not as important because we as the driver, we don't get to watch much DVD in the car anyway (unless you are the sort that go and park your car at East Coast Park or Mt Faber for some quality time with your partner).
