Spring ROSE BOWL meet - Saturday May 12th
seriously I wouldn't mind/care if some guy showed up in a C230 (that must've owned a Vette before? Like I owned a Merc before) Even if he didn't I wouldn't give a **** if he liked Vettes or had friends at the forum, everyone welcome in my book, please tell me you're kidding Saprissa? I pm'd u as well?
Like I stated before... I let one in, I have to let everyone in.
From experience, mixing up the marques leads to other problems.
Again, its nothing personal against you or any other non-MB owner, or their non-MB cars. After all is said and done, my name is what is on the line with either Police, City Officials, or Event Coordinators.
There are very inmature people who attend meets, and all they need is a little egging on from another person, and someone's joke becomes an unfortunate event.
We see this all the time... check out the thread with the fist-fight at the BMW meet, where a couple of MB's decided to show up.
Again, Rickster, this is NOT aimed at you. Everyone that knows me, knows that I am the easiest person to get along with, but in my 15+ years of car shows and meets (VW & MB) I know what works and what doesn't. For now, any Meet that I put together is Mercedes-Benz only. Anyone else who is an MB enthusiast or fan, is more than welcome to show up, but please do not sign up with an non-MB car nor park with the MBs to inadvertently antogonize those who cannot control their emotions or adrenaline rushes.
I am more than happy to cordially discuss at length. You can ask other Car Show veterans like Mark Cummins as to what I'm talking about.

read my follow up PM to yours, and every single point you make above is addressed.
I specifically asked those people with non-MB cars not to show up.
Case in point, had I included a certain individual with a very loud exhaust on the attendance list, that person would have gotten a ticket by Pasadena Police for decible-limit violation. I played dumb, and said that that person was not on the list that I submitted to the Rose Bowl Event Coordinator, and so they left it alone. The person asked to be put on the list repetitively, and I refused. So there is a reason to my madness.
As for the burnout-donut driver from our own beloved Merc family, he has apologized, and I also had to calm the Police down from issuing a ticket and escorting him off the premises.
This story repeats itself again and again. There are plenty of mixed-marque car meets for everyone to mix it up and have a good time. I am not going to stop anyone from showing up.
Please re-read my PM and I'm more than happy to address any of the issues you may have. There are far too many lessons learned to just allow a nilly-***** free for all, and have me take the blame from local authorities.
Everyone on all 20 MB online forums for which I advertise these MB meets is more than welcome to coordinate and plan a meet. It's not as easy as you may think. If you want BMW's, VWs, Vettes, and MB's all together... Go for it ! We are all free in our pursuit of happiness !

That's my Vette....and thanks for taking the snap shots.
I called TheRicker (Sean) to meet up, but he had prior engagements with an out-of-town guest.
I noticed two MB groups (one a few hundred yards ahead).
Last I heard from Benny, he was selling his C6Z a few months ago.
Everybodys car came out great, hope everybody enjoyed Saturday, I know Carlos ain't too happy about the "different" cars showing up...but you gotta look at it this way, atleast he didn't go park there up in with the Mercedes, I mean that's like saying why did the dude with the Bike show up and run fast up n down the parking lot....unless the bike was MB it shouldn't of been there either.
I got to meet a great group of people and I'll do it all over again and it'll only get better, PERSONALLY I thought we were well organized in the first parking lot till popos decided to come along and use a "Were going to be using this for Swapmeet" excuse and told us to move one parking lot over??
Everybody kinda went into their own little group after we moved...but I'm gonna say this, there was a group of A**holes that I will not mention who and what cars they drive and what they did, their vibe just did it all, they know who they are, if you guys are gonna pull that off, do yourselves a favor sell your MBs and buy a Geo Metro and join the Ricer club, don't bring that High school crap over here.
Other then that, great meet! Looking forward to more!
you hit the nail on the head on your last PM. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm talking about.
Please clear your PM box, because I wasn't able to reply.
Thanks

I purposely parked distant from the the meet and didn't sign up, I came as a spectator...next time I'll bring one of the benzos and hang with you guys.
Yes, I did notice the guy with the bike doing some fast runs in the parking lot and a few guys doing burn outs as they exit...I arrived late, so I must have missed the other group your talking about.
Feel free to stop by our Corvette GTG at the Block of Orange, we meet once a month and a few meetings ago a guy in a CLK showed up, apparently he was in the market for a Vette and had questions for us....he showed up with his new Atomic Orange C6 at our last meet. There are several of us including TheRicker and myself who are MB/Vette owners...and yes, I've taken an MB to a Corvette meet.

last rose bowl meet, I remember he tried to do the same thing...
and most likely get me banned from the next meet ... but im willing to take the risk
Mr. Saprissa.... thanks for organizing such a great event,...
i had lots of fun and had the chance to meet great people and make good friends ... (the guy with the yellow glasses, the guy with the amg SUV, the guy with the SICK AZZ maya wheels)
(i suck a remembering names sorry)
Mr. jimmydagreek ...
Thanks for leading the caravan ... it takes some great skill to maneuver and direct a group of cars through such horrible traffic ... thanks for the patience
splinter & emrliquidlife ...
a true pleasure (finally) meeting you
no matter how much i write about it, no words come close to saying how nice these 2 guys are .... (i hope you're enjoying the music, and thanks for the water bottle)
now ... here comes the bad part ....
and is not something i wrote myself but something i read in another forum from someone that clearly shares my views ..
i thoroughly enjoyed meeting some of the people there; i also enjoyed seeing some of the vintage, and more rare cars (amg 63/65!)... i just didn't like how it turned out to be like... a show more than a friendly car meet... almost like saying "all the asians with the c-classes line up here",
but at some point the group margination was quite obvious....
and thats a poorly projected image since some of the guys with
the 6-figure-price cars were more outgoing and friendlier
my conclusion from all this is that regardless of the car you drive ...
older people tend to have a more mature and friendly attitude
and thats something to keep in mind for the next meet
(after this post i know i wont be seen the same way, but it will show who my true friends are)
_________all flaming below this line please

_____________________the cars were mainly placed together by chassis (like all the meets have been organized in the past). we had been talking about a large group 203 shot on the C-Class forum for months already (after some other boards did that with their cars) and since this was the largest showing of C-Classes at a meet ever, and we had ample space and opportunity to do it, we decided to give it a go.
my apologies if you felt marginalized, please believe me that no one wanted to or intended to do that. now I realized that that's probably why you took off midway through.
but I do take offense to your last statement. so what are you trying to say? that we should perhaps have a minimum age for the meets? no offense, but I find this quite ironic coming from the individual who had two large stuffed animals seatbelted in his backseat.
also, the C-Class group and almost everyone is pretty friendly. all you needed to do was introduce yourself to people or go up to them. many of us have known each other for a while and are veterans when it comes to meets... it's human nature to hang out with those you know, and for some of us, the meets are basically like seeing our old friends that we haven't seen in a while...

I didn't see what the guy looked like, but if I can remember from the last meet, he looked like some gansta fob wannabe.
nevertheless, I certainly agree with you.

and i hate to point people out but YOU were actually one of the few that i noticed to be friendly and that was around my age ...
.... 2.- i understand the picture taking and formation of the c classes ....
but after the coupes came to the "other" side .... the rest of the c's stayed there ....
.... 3. -im sure my stuffed animals did not reflect my behaviour at the meet .... and besides they are not seatbelted ... they're just sitting there
my apologies if i misinterpreted things, but i much rather be honest and a bit "blunt" if you may, than to hold things back and just single out from such events( which i do enjoy )....
ALL and ALL i thought it was a great meet, and the majority of us cant wait to do it all over again.

we stayed there b/c we were taking "all sedan" pics after the coupes had left and we were trying another formation (as you'll see when more of the pics show up).
ah, I thought they were seatbelted in, they weren't moving around as you were driving, so I thought they were pretty secure. what were you trying to do? get in the carpool lane?
