October 26 - 28 is the best weekend for me. It'll probably be just me, as my husband works weekends. With enough notice, he may be able to get a swap with somebody so they can work for him on that weekend.

Anytime except for the first weekend in October, Oct. 4-6 to be precise. That when SILV is in town and I will be amongst them. A Red Rock cruise/convoy would be great thing to do, many tourist are surprised that such a place exist within minutes from the Strip.

I think MB should give away freebies in Las Vegas since we're given them all this free advertising

Let me start counting and see what I'm coming up with. Maybe this becomes a bigger event than originally planned, particularly with the scenic drive included (I'm thinking Saturday morning).

Here we go ...

Right, so the date is okay with everyone so far (26-28 Oct 2007), and the plan would be to drive up to Red Rock on Saturday morning as a group for some photos and, what, maybe a picnic lunch or some such?

So far, here are the results (name and number of people at the Venetian - a "?" means I haven't seen that info from you);

Bean Counter ?
BoxBoss 0
cierex ?
Love my GL ?
Nevada Jack 0
Newbie 2 MB 1
oknish 4
StevethePilot 4
Stumblefoot 0
Waiting-4-550 ?

Now, we could blast this to the other forums and get as many Mercedes there as possible, then present this as an owner-driven event to MBUSA and see what they say. It could also be cross-posted to the other MB forum to get numbers up, but if they get high enough I can almost guarantee a need for at least one other hotel as I'm sure they're pretty booked up on weekends already.

I would at least like to firm up the numbers on you guys who haven't posted how many would attend, so I can begin talking to the Venetian about it and get some initial feedback. I'm sure even with just 7 rooms we could get something out of them!

Thanks!

STP

Meeting internet buddies in person is a scary thing.. But if MBUSA picks up some of the cost then sure I could be convinced... It's a very tentative 2 for me

I would keep it to the small group of GL owners...get to meet who we are talking to by email and enjoy ourselves a little. If it gets too big then it loses its appeal I think.

Just lookin' for freebies. I'm happy either way!

However, I do believe that considering the networks of MB owners in the US available to us, we could do something bigger in the future. Is there like an all-Mercedes event nationally?

I've been out of the loop too long.

STP - I agree with NJ. Keep it small with GL owners and just enjoy.

Waiting-4-550 - I am sure you have a valid reason for your statement about meeting folks who you have talked to on the internet. There is another side to that coin too. I met my wife on the internet (no, not a mail order bride ) and recently had the pleasure of meeting boxboss and his lovely wife in person after me and boss met on this forum. Couldn't have met a better couple no matter how I tried. Just food for thought.

And, how about if we take a couple of videos of the GL convoy driving down the strip from a couple of vantage points. Send those and a pic or two to MB and ask them if that gets their attention for freeebies for next time.

Beside Red Rock pics, there is a local casino with a rooftop parking level that is usually vacant. We could really get some good shots up there and take the time to position the cars to our liking. Here is a shot I took a week or so ago of the S on the roof.

I nominate NJ as the official car photographer of the GL meet. Anyone seconding the motion?

You are too kind...

The nice thing about this location is that it is on the way to/or from Red Rock.

But most of all it is the home of the Kettle of Cabbage Soup...whether it will be on the menu that Saturday "I totally do not know."

A) Of course, every picture I've seen him put here is a post-card waiting to happen.

B) The more cameras, the merrier, and the greater possibility of getting some killer shots.

The first time I saw those red, red rocks was Sunday when I was flying in to LV from Reno (coming home from the nightmare RV trip) - I had no idea those beautiful formations were there!

The more cameras the better.

Here is another possible site to set up a picture with the GL's in a line. This road is just off the main road to Red Rock just before the entrance. The clouds make this image so hope for some clouds..:-)

Just an FYI - I have asked for this thread to be made sticky till 11/1 and it looks like that the thread will be moved to Events board (proper place for it) but there will be a sticky link on the GL forum.

Red Rock? we can make it to Death Valley, better for off roading.
Might as well do a Halloween GL Party, what you think?

BTW, Nevada Jack, are you retired or working from home? I see you posting like every 15 minutes or less in both forums.
Good for you, I still have to work so I can post when I have free time.

I spend a lot of time on the computer for various endeavors and stay tuned to certain forums. This GL forum today has been probably the busiest on MBWorld. Everytime I get to doing something else another entry pops up.

I have been retired 20 years (retired when I was 25...:-)))
