Monterey Week- Historics, Concours, Parties, etc. (hot chicks and cars)
Is anyone here going to Monterey?
I'll be in Carmel on Thurs. for the Tour De'lagance
which is where the Concours cars are driven around the Peninsula.
They stop in Carmel for lunch for about 2 hours.
It's a blast to see them drive in, and even more fun when they go out.
And it's FREE!. So, you get to see many of the cars that will be on display being driven. And save yourself the $200 per person entrance fee.
Later in the day, it's time to crash the opening ceremony party at
Laguna Seca, typically catered by Bernardus Resort and Winery.
Been doin' this now for years....though last year it was a lot harder to crash the party, but I still got in.
The theme last year was 60's indy cars.
On the stage was Parnelli Jones, Emerson Fitipaldi, AJ Foyt, Al Unser, Bobby Unser, and the guy most responsible for the existance of the race track itself.
Plus all the food you can eat, and all the $30 a bottle wine you can drink
(Or beer if you prefer) for free.
You're supposed to have a Paddock pass, like be one of the racers, but I've gotten in at least 4 times. Always a blast.
Anyone with me? I just dumped my g'friend, so at this point I'll be goin' alone. :-(

This will be year 30 for me and the Historics. Yes, I started going when I was 16 and I'm old now. Unfortunately, I won't be up there this year until Friday night. My son is up at Big Bear with his Cross Country team until Friday afternoon.
If you are at the track on Saturday, I'll be there with my boys and my father-in-law. I always look forward to meeting peeps from MBWorld. PM me with a cell number and I'll send you mine.

Don’t have a perfect attendance record like ScottW911, but it’s been a memorable getaway in years past.
Highly recommended. Just can’t swing it this year.
Trust you’ll all have a fine time. Kindly share a pic or two if it’s not too much trouble.

What a shame. I was looking forward to a couple of generations of splinter's and ScottW911's getting together, surrounded by some of the greatest sound and smells known.
My youngest is pretty excited because we learned that Porsche, Gmund #1, will be in Monterey this year (60th anniversary, you know). He was too young to remember seeing it 10 years ago, during the 50th anniversary celebration. I'm hoping to be able to say I've touched 356-001 on 3 separate occasions after this year.
By the way, I guess work is a worthy excuse, but don't let it happen again next year.

I'm making the annual pilgrimage to Monterey, but unfortunately not on Thursday. Don't have the whole week to devote to it unfortunately.
Will be at the Ferrari Preview on Saturday. Other events will be added on the itinerary.
Might not go to the auction this year, since Robb Report doesn't have the "Salon" meeting.

I would consider the lunch and paddock tour (not so interested in the latter), but I'm not physically in Northern California on Thursday.

I'll be at the Baha Cantina in Carmel Valley for a time, assuming they don't herd everyone out the Reservation road exit, which they've been known to do.
To get there, go out the main entrance, turn left, turn right on
Laurelis Grade Rd. then right on Carmel Valley rd.
It's a huge party, and the parking lot full of awesome cars.
I was going to make a pass through Carmel, and then I was thinking of heading to Alvarado St. DT Monterey. Lots of places there.
The Mucky Duck? Or Cibo, which is a Jazz club. Or...
there's a bunch of places on Alvarado.
Or....suggestions?
I sent my ph # to Scott, haven't heard anything back yet.
Thurs was a blast. We didn't make to see Tower of Power at the Fair, we
ended at Baha, my buddy's band was playing...it was a blast.
Managed to round up a couple people to go.

Pebble was very light this year. I only went on Saturday; very little traffic compared to previous years I've gone.
The Ferrari California presentation was a bit disappointing.
The Infiniti test drive event, Spyker demonstration, and Mercedes-Benz Classic car tent were all more impressive than the Ferrari California presentation.
Congratulations to the Alfa Romeo, that won this year's Concours.

If you sent it to me, I never received it. Sorry.
I thought this year was definately lacking. The tributes were non-existent and the crowds were thinner.
I have heard that next years marque at Laguna Seca, is Porsche. Why next year instead of this year? This was Porsche's 60 anniversary.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
I am not going to miss a single day next year.
