Fellow AMG enthusiasts:
The AMG get together is still a go on Saturday, May 10, 2003. We will gather at the historic Crescent Farm estate in Canton, Georgia at 10:00am for photo opportunities and a chance to meet and greet fellow AMG owners. Make sure to bring your camera!

The photo shoot/get together is scheduled to last until noon in Canton. At that time, those interested will be encouraged to get a quick bite to eat and will receive route instructions for a fun tour of North Georgia, expected to take roughly 90 minutes. Our fun drive will lead us to Sugar Hill, GA to the performance Mercedes-Benz shop of MB Autowerks. Bill Wood and Donnie Drummonds have offered to host us in their shop for the afternoon and will show us the latest MONSTER projects they are working on. Expect to see several more AMG cars on display at their facility.
Around 4:00pm, the group will migrate to Vreny’s Biergarten (adjacent to Kurt’s Restaurant) in Duluth. You can enjoy authentic german food and the restaurant has one of the most extensive selection of german beers on tap you’ll find outside of Europe! Lunch and dinner will be dutch, so please plan accordingly.
For obvious reasons, we will only have the event if the weather cooperates. Let’s all hope for great weather this weekend! Remember, there is NO COST to attend this fun-filled day with your AMG brethren. Look for street directions on this post in the next day or two. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post them here.

Hey Guys....Original CLK55AMG ATL owner here.
Some of you may remember me from my car being the feature article on MBWorld.org back when CLK55's first came into the country (got mine on Sept. 4, 2000).

I was thinking I might catch up with you guys.....mine is still mint and only has 10k miles on it. I'm up in the Duluth area (on Berkeley Lake). I live very close to Kurt's Biergarten, where one of the planned stops is. If one of you see me on the road in your daily travels...my tag is the same as my screen name here "WAYFST".
I've been really busy and haven't been back to the site in a while and happened to catch this AMG get-together. Hope to see you all there.

Proceed North on I-75 to I-575
Take I-575 North
Take exit 16 (Highway 20, Hwy. 5, Hwy 140) and bear LEFT (West)
Turn RIGHT at the traffic light (Marietta Hwy.) The location will be 8/10 mile on the right. The street address is 687 Marietta Highway, Canton, Ga.
We are scheduled to begin at 10:00am. Make sure to bring your camera!

Man I dont think I'll be able to make the shoot. It s just a little bit to much of a mission at approx 5 hours for me to get there. Realy want to see everyones cars and would love to see MBAutowerks for sure but i hate gettin up at 5am on Saturdays. Have fun boys later-MOE

Excitement is building
I ran the route of the fun drive again last night after work (in between rainstorms
) and there is some SPECTACULAR scenery on the planned drive. All of the roads are in excellent condition and we'll have the chance to exercise our AMGs with our fellow performance enthusiasts!
According to the lastest weather reports, we should have excellent weather this Saturday.
Now for the plea.....If you know anyone else in the area with an AMG, encourage them to bring it this Saturday!

In all, it was a fun day
We had a total of 12 AMGs attend: 10 met up at the original start location, 8 completed the drive and two more were at MB Autowerks in the afternoon.
5 CLK55s
2 C32s
1 SLK32
1 E55
2 C36s
1 C43 (with a 55 motor, Kleeman and other go-fast stuff)
Most memorable times I can recall.....
- AMG's lined up for the photos in Canton
- ndabunka making new friends with the "locals" on the mountain drive
- benzmac doing burnouts and giving test drives in the Kleemann CLK55
But, most importantly....meeting some great new AMG friends!
Photos to follow in the coming days.

Taking a break in the mountains after ndabunka got the finger from a highway friend..
.....don't jump Matt!!! (Matt threatened to put a straight-jacket on and dive off the mountainside.....but we stopped him.)

2001 CLK55AMG
Afterwards we met at MBAutowerks....
...that car in the front is a full-on Kleeman CLK55 with 560HP! The white car on the other end (a supposed C43) is super secret and has more power than the Kleeman CLK! Thanks for the spin in the Kleeman benzmac! The skin on my face is forever deformed.
