AMG Photo Shoot in Georgia
Hi!
I am in the early stages of organizing an AMG photo shoot in the Atlanta, GA area. I'm still scouting locations and any input is welcome.
Post here if you would like to participate.....
Need many more AMG's (CL, S, SLK) and (hopefully) different colors too!
White, Red, Black.....ALL colors welcome.
So far, a date has not been set. Again, all input is welcome!
Steve

No longer car shopping...
Let me know the place and time
I have a CLK55 and would like to meet others. I'm from NC but if it's done over a weekend, I'll make the normal 5-hour trip (Probably in about 2.0 hours flat).

Hi Guys
Donnie (it's me, el pres.), your place would be great for some inside shots! I am also looking for at least one outside venue as well.
At this point, I'd like to see how much interest we've got before selecting a date.....the rest can fall into place easily once we figure out what model, color and the number of cars we have to work with. Realistically, this will likely take place after the end of April as I am knee-deep in some MBCA and Audi events I am planning as well.
If this turns out to be a large AMG gathering (20/25 + cars), and we get folks from all over the Southeast (ndabunka) I would be willing to plan a couple more things in conjuction with the photo shoot....like a nice dinner and perhaps a short gimmick rally if there is interest. This could turn into a weekender!
Thanks guys for the responses. Keep your eyes out here for more specifics as they develop.

I would be up for it as well. Chappy, any thoughts of organizing a track day at Road Atlanta in conjunction with it? Would be happy to bring out my Black CLK 55.

I hadn't thought of doing a track event at the same time. It's not out of the question, but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew by myself. I am in the throws of organizing an MBCA autocross (in Gwinnett) as well as a track event with the Audi club (scheduled to be in Birmingham, AL).
Feel free to PM me if you have any contacts at Road Atlanta that could accommodate us

I will make some calls and see what I can come up with. Will let you know in the next day or two. Sounds like you have a full schedule.
A couple of my friends with AMG cars will probably attend if we all get together. Looking like this may turn into a large crowd.
The more the better....

And I've got a pewter C32 I can bring for color contrast.

Lexus GS 450h
Just some input:
SCCA autocrosses at Turner Field Sunday mornings. I have never participated but will attend this Sunday's event to watch. Registration is at 8 but they start racing about 10.
From my understanding, Road Atlanta is a very challenging track. Experienced drivers have told me to not start tracking there. They have told me of seeing multiple wrecks by outstanding/modded cars but inexperienced drivers. Then they have to drag the car outside do the insurance company won't cancel their policy.
Andretti Speedlabs in Alpharetta is the usual meeting place for car clubs. They have a wet skidpad there, for $15, you get to see what you can do with an instructer. They have indoor go karts, and all sorts of games insided.
We (SELOC) meet downtown and take a nice spirited drive from Lenox Rd up 400N to Mansel Rd. People always have a blast. Also, it's usually Hondas and the like, when a Lexus, or AMG Benz, or Viper pull up (you never know who is coming) it's cool for them to check out your car (rare to see them together).

***UPDATE***
Pending approval from the venue I have selected, the date is tentatively scheduled for Saturday May 10, 2003, 10am. Additional details will be posted in the near future. If you can get to metro Atlanta on that date, please show up with a shiny AMG!

Richard,
Glad to have you attend! I'm still trying to "get the word out", so if you know any AMG owners, please invite them as well
A little more detail: I have received confirmation from our photo location and have secured the date of May 10, 2003 from 10am to 12noon.
When: Saturday, May 10, 2003 – 10:00am
Where: Crescent Farms Estate / City Hall, Canton GA
Rain Date: No rain date scheduled
If you are within driving distance of Atlanta, make sure to attend the first major AMG Photo Shoot organized in the U.S.! Want to see numerous AMG cars perfectly detailed in an beautiful setting? Outside of the VPC in Jacksonville, this will likely be the largest gathering of AMG cars in North America at one time! Be a part of it!
There is NO COST to attend this event. The venue has been secured: The historic Crescent Farms Estate in Canton, GA, approximately 30 miles north of Atlanta. Since 1996, this venue houses the administrative offices for the City of Canton.
Details about the venue can be found at http://www.canton-georgia.com/Canton...overnment.html
Afterward, I am planning on doing a rally/drive of the North Georgia hills for everyone's entertainment. The drive will last around 90 minutes...possibly a little longer. Imagine over a dozen AMG's rushing through the 2-lane backroads, nose to tail!
Keep checking this thread for additional information and details about others attending

My toll pass is on the fritz so I had to haul *** to catch back up with you (after dumping my 50 cents) prior to getting off at the Abernathy exit! My wife gets a bit skittish when I do that kinda' stuff so I had to make it look safe...
Yes, part of my tag has AMG...

Your car looked real clean, I was impressed as hell to see an SLK AMG out here on the roads. Can't wait to see that car up again up in Canton.

My bad!!!
And I really love the pewters, too. I saw a pewter 320 at RBM the other day that was gorgeous. It was 10pm, after all!
Speaking of c's, I saw a lorinser 320 at RBM the same day. It was white and looked pretty damb good for a non-AMGer. Also saw two SL500's, both black, one with tan leather :p and the other a lobster color interior![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
Look forward to meeting you if I can make it

Two more we need to find...
Yesterday I saw a silver SL55 on Ashford Dunwoody, and I know of an S55 up in Alpharetta. I have a friend who might be able to get the S involved, but does anybody know who owns the SL? It was going the opposite way, else I'd have pulled up to it.
