Buying 2 year CPO warranty. (GLK)
We bought a 2013 CPO.
The dealer offered us $2500 for 2 additional CPO years for a total of 3 CPO years. The car currently has 7800 miles.
Does it pay to buy it, or rip off?

just my 2 cents owning a 2010 CPO, but I would not take it.
the CPO kicks in after the Manf warranty. yours is a 2013 so most of your items are already covered for 3 years.
BTW, My 2010 had issues this year 2014 and had the battery replaced under warranty and the entire transmission and torque converter replaced under warranty.

the CPO kicks in after the Manf warranty. yours is a 2013 so most of your items are already covered for 3 years.

The finance guy also tried to talk us into taking the tire/rim package warranty at $1295.

Original new car warranty is based on original date-in-service - and is capped at 4yrs from date-in-service or 50K miles - whichever comes 1st !
Then CPO warranty seamlessly takes over from that end of new car warranty - CPO warranty has no mileage cap !
If you sell/trade vehicle before CPO warranty kicks in - then CPO is 100% refundable - and that process takes about 6 weeks.
If you sell/trade after your CPO warranty kicks in - then in "most" states - not all - then CPO is refundable pro-rated by time LESS any "claims/service" paid to the dealer under CPO.
Frankly - with the coverage of the CPO warranty - which excludes shocks, brakes, tires as consumables - $1000 a yr for manufacturer's CPO coverage with UNLIMITED mileage is a "smart" value - especially in todays age where interest rates on car notes is quite low for calculating interest cost.
After 30 days from purcahse date - the dealer's cost for added warranty goes up 5% - and CPO can be extended all the way up to last day before existing CPO expires - and also subject to any other future increases in CPO cost.

When I said 5 years is because the GLK's in service date was July 2012. So 4 years plus 1 CPO brings it to July 2017 (3 years) and buying 2 CPO years would be July 2019 (5 years).
