Wheel & tire protection from Mercedes - worth it?

The warranty person from the dealership called me up to try and sell me on extended warranty but insisted particularly on the wheel & tire protection program (5 years to replace damaged wheels/tires). Is it worth it? 1 OEM wheel/tire would cost me less to buy new than the program... Are the stock AMG wheels super fragile or something? Again, he was very insistant that I'll "even make money" with this protection...

Just lost pass side front Wheel and Tire a few weeks ago. All total, new stock wheel, new Pirelli run flat and alignment = $2205. I bought Mercedes Wheel and Tire Protection after that incident.

I'm in Austin TX and the roads are very good for the most part so have not thought about purchasing a wheel and tire warranty. I am heading up to Toronto Canada in Sep for two weeks and I know the roads are not great up there so little worried about that. Just out of curiosity, what duration and what did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

72 months/unlimited miles @ $2665 total. Purchased from local Mercedes dealer here in Albuquerque.
Just a little over what it cost me for my 1st mishap with no tire/wheel protection.

Thanks for the info. Can one choose different time periods for the coverage or is it only 72 months? Thanks.

You will need to check with your local dealer or MBUSA as I am not sure on prices/months other than what I wanted. Forgot to mention there is no deductible and they do offer $ for loss of use of vehicle/rental.

Wheel & tire imo is worth it. I’ve leased my last three mercedes. I didn’t get much use out of it the first time, but my last (c63) and current (c43) I used it several times. I bent all of my c63 wheels in a three year span and I got two flats (this all happened in FL might I add). I’ve used the warranty twice in the last two years on my c43. This happened to me a few days ago. The metal was jammed up there pretty good, so I made it to the dealership without any trouble. They replaced it the following day. It was a nice, easy process

What's this person's contact info? 72 months and unlimited mileage? Well worth it IMO. Would like to speak to the sales rep about getting it from them.

you can only buy wheel and tire during the time you purchase your vehicle. You also cannot buy it from another dealer. I learned the hard way. Shopped it and Purchased it up north several years ago....let’s just say it was a total mess. When I took it in service told me my wheel and tire protection was invalid because I didn’t purchase it from the dealer I purchased my car from. I paid the money for it and it processed, so how could that be? After speaking to Jeff @ MB of Louisville he confirmed this is true and their system allows it to go through, so everything seems good....until you go to use it. Jeff also mentioned that almost dealers don’t know this.

I have 20" AMG rims and live in Los Angeles. I have had wheels replaced twice in 12 months.

The mechanic told me with the low profile tires that are also run flats (less give in the tire), a moderate pothole with bend the wheel.

I absolutely encourage you to pay for the warranty. You will be glad you did.

Got it for my CPO C300 and am so glad I did. Run flat tires are expensive and have already had to replace 2 in the past months (Screw/nail both times) which would have cost close to 800 otherwise. I got 60 months or 150K miles for I think 1500, so I have no doubt it will pay for itself.

What size wheels do you have? Sounds like you made out like a bandit. I've had my 2020 E450 for 18 months now and no tire/wheel issues yet (knocking on wood like crazy). I have 18's BTW.

18" with the amg black package. 1 replacement wheel is something like $600 if it needed to be replaced so I figured with NJ potholes it is bound to happen. Also covers fixing curb rash which is worth it!

Yeah, North East its a definitely worth it. I lived in Boston for 14 years and lost several wheels and tires due to potholes. I live in Austin TX area now and the roads are good around here, never had an issues even when I had a staggered 20" wheel setup on my 2018 X5 diesel. My E450 wagon has the AMG package with the 18"s.

Current Wheel & Tire Protection cost - GLB35

Here's the quote I got today from my NJ dealer for our 2022 GLB35 (19" rims). Seems very expensive but I'm now afraid to shop around for this at other dealers if it has to be purchased through the original dealer. Any updates on this policy or recommendations for better pricing?

The Tire Wheel Bundle covers key replacement cosmetic wheel repair tire replacement road hazard rim replacement if cracked also windshield chip repairs and small ding and dent repairs no deductible unlimited claims for 4 years $ 4695 plus tax.

That is extremely juiced, we offer the same policy, the Fidelity Superior Road Hazard and Tire Protection, 48 months, only $2,185. You can contract me at tgibson@highline-autos.com or (855) 924-1333 with any questions.

Here is a link to coverage: https://p.widencdn.net/prmiwt/R4118 . I quoted you for "Superior" coverage, so keep that in mind when reading the exclusions, it can be redundant listing exclusions that are covered under your tier of coverage, but it is because it is a single example contract for all levels of coverage.

So it says if damage were to occur to your tires, you must bring it back to the selling dealer. What if we bought the car out of state?

@vlc92189 Not a problem, the customer can take it to whomever they choose, dealership or licensed service center in the country.
