Buying car out of lease, extended warranty/ CPO
Sorry if this has been covered, I read through a number of threads but did not see anything recent specific to my question.
Short: Lease is ending next month, planning to buy the car at my residual given the current new car market. The car will be 3 years old, I don't see myself keeping it more than another 1 or 2 years. I was told to purchase extended a Mercedes extended warranty, it would cost $1,000 to certify and around $4,000 to purchase an additional year. Do these numbers and processes seem fairly accurate? Any thoughts or other advice. My car is a 2019 C43 with only 15,000 miles. If I get my car certified, can I then potentially finance through MBFS? Is there typically a dealer markup on the rates I should negotiate on? How long after purchasing out of lease can I wait to add CPO extended warranty?
Longer/ detailed: My car is a 2019 C43 with about 15,000 miles on it. I usually just lease a new car when my lease ends but given the market for new cars, I think I am better off purchasing my car out of the lease and driving it until the market improves. I don't see myself keeping this car for more than another year or two. I am not sure if (i) I should even bother with an extended warranty given the age and mileage of the car (ii) if I do get an extended warranty, is the general feeling that the Mercedes product is the way to go? (iii) is my understanding of the process to get the extended warranty correct - the dealer will inspect car to certify it CPO for around $1,000, I can then purchase 1 or 2 more years of warranty. I believe 1 year was quoted around $4,000 (this seems pretty high to me), so $5,000 for 1 year of warranty? Given the low mileage of the car, seems pretty expensive so not sure it is worth it. That said, have people found having a CPO car adds value when they go to sell? Not sure if/ how I will finance it but MBFS rates have been pretty good when I looked in the past. Not sure what to expect there.
I know a lot of this is subjective, but people here always seem to have a good perspective and information, so really appreciate your thoughts/ help.
Thank you!
Thanks,
K.
Seems when you are ready to get rid of it so why would you need extended if oem is still in play?
