1. Does it cover the 48 volt battery?
2. Do you still have to do Service A and Service B to maintain warranty?
3. Can you have a gap in coverage between factory and extended warranty?

Mercedes extended warranty is only eligible for purchase by original owner. Dealer may also sell warranty from other companies. I would assume every car company, warranty provider expects you to comply with recommended maintenance.

Hang on, maybe I am missing something. I bought a used E-class from a dealer. It was still under the original, manufacturer's warranty. It was also a CPO car. I was able to purchase an extended warranty -- from MB (the dealer), and it extended the original, manufacturer's warranty. Not an extension of the CPO, but the original. The CPO then kicked in after the original.

I did not know that was possible and stand corrected if that is true. I was not given that option. I was told I could only buy two more years of CPO coverage. Factory extended warranty is much better coverage than cpo.

Looking at this some more, i think my original comment is correct. On used car, such as cpo, you cannot extend factory warranty, can only extend cpo warranty. The confusion is that they call them both extended warranty. CPO warranty is limited in time and what is covered, but unlimited in mileage. Factory extended warranty has fewer limitations and you purchase based on how much time and mileage you want. It is not unlimited mileage, only available to original owner.
