Stock G500 Wheels and tires for sale (4)
4,000 miles on the set, Like New. I was going to keep the stock 18' wheels and mount snows on them. Decided to sell the wheels and tires now and go with 16's for winter!!! $1,500 takes everything (4 sets)!! free shipping in the Continental US!!

What snow tires are you thinking of using on the 16" rims?
I looked on tirerack.com and only found one real snow tire in 265/70R16, the new Michelin 4X4 Artic Alpin.
If anyone know more about that topic, which would you recommend?

I was not going that wide. The tires will be 245/75/16 to maintain the proper diameter and offer better traction due to less surface area. Two tires I am looking at are the Bridgestone Dueler DM72 and Blizzak W965.

Pludwig, what kind of wheels did you replace the originals with?
Did you get the AMG 18" Wheels to replace the originals or got something else?

I ended up buying 4 Michelin 4X4 Alpin in 265/70R16 on G-Wagen 16" alloy rims from Europa Int'l --same rims that used to equip the G320 in Europe until last year. They are "light truck highway winter tires" that work well on ice during all their life.
I looked into some 245/75R16 which indeed maintain the overall diameter, but got concerned on the Bridgestone's by the fact that only the first half of the thread works on ice, the second half is only winter rubber.
The G has enough weight to accomodate the 265 size in winter tires; I do not trust the standard Yokohama 18" tires on icy roads and hardly in cold snow (my personal judgement only).
In Canada, out of the SUV's that had winter tires, roughly half had the Bridgestone DMZ2 and the other half the new Michelin 4X4 Alpin.
