Question 2003 G-500 Option Harmon Kardon vs Stock Stereo? Rear Parktronic?

I have a Black on Black 2003 G-500 coming in next week. My only reserveation is the stock stereo comes with most 2003 G's coming in at this point, and to special order with the Harmon Kardon "$800" the wait could be from 3 to 6 months. I was told I might be able to upgrade the speakers to MB quartz. Or maybe 3rd party? The problem is Fiberoptics prevents much motification. Any advice would be helpful. As well, any advice or comments about rear parktronic? Also an option I would have to wait for?

Thanks

The current stereo on the G500 sounds terrific. I think it is equal to the Mark Levinson in my LS 430 and old SC430 now departed. I have a G55 coming in November . It will be built with the Harmon Kardon so your 3-6 month figure is probably correct.
As for the rear (only) Park Assist, I would advise you to try to hold out for that as backing up is sometimes dicey. I am 6'2" and seeing over both the center rear headrest and the spare tire is not easy. (By the way, I just had to change a tire out at the ranch and it did require reviewing four different areas in the owners manual...just locating the jack under the rear seat! Word of caution. While putting the tire back on the rear door mount, I scratched the chrome rim. Be careful to align the holes prior to doing this. Do not rotate on the mounting post. Back to the subject: The slab sided side window glass throws in another occasional element of confusion so every possible assist helps. I have parking radar on two cars and really do recommend it.
Also the 55 will have a multicontour drivers seat. I do not know if it is available on the 500 but that is a great seat in the S600. I don't think it will have ventilation though. Does anyone know?

Glad to hear about the stereo. Thats a bigger concern for me. The parktronic would be nice as well, but I'm not sure I want to wait. I have a 2002 S-430 and love the parktronic, mostly because the rear of the car is so long, and impossiable to see. I'm still considering 2 options: picking up my Black on Black stock 2003 G seeing what I miss or don't miss, and after a few weeks maybe ordering a new G with the Harmon Kardon and Rear- Parktronic, "even thinking of ordering Pewter?" As far as the ventilation goes I don't think it comes with it. Have you picked up a 2003 brochere? It does not say anything about it. How long ago did you order your AMG to get November delivery? One dealer told me I would have to wait as long as 8 months, but most as I said say 3 to 6 months?? I plan on calling MB cutomer service today for more info about the wait and upgrading the stereo, I'm considering the speakers. Thanks for the advice on the spare. You never know. One more question, have you ever herd of one dealer getting a better car then another from the factory? I know its the case with nissan.

Thanks
