CD Changer Removal 2005 G500 / iPod / Dension
I need some help obtaining access to the CD Changer located in the driver's side rear cargo area of my 2005 G500. I am installing a Dension fiber optic iPod interface and need to access the fiber optic and power connections from the back of the CD Changer, but I cannot determine how best to remove the changer. I have used the Dension kit on my 2000 C43 and it worked great. That changer, however, was very easy to access. I also obtained the factory wire / plug from MB, so that I will not have to cut or splice any wires. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Yes. 1. remove five or so screws from the rubber moulding at the threshold of the rear door nearest the cd changer 2. Pull the rubber moulding off the left side of the rear door 3. remove the trim panel containing the speaker against the back wall 4. pull up the carpet around the CD changer from the bottom. 5. at that point you will see two screws 6. remove the screws and the rest will be self evident.

When I did the Dension on my 2003, I found that the best place for the Dension unit was directly behind the COMAND unit. The fiber and electrical connections are right there and it makes it easy to run the iPod cable into the center console storage bin. Never mess with the changer in the back.
