Anybody have trouble with the "door open" and "hood open" alarms?

Is this with a 2002 G500? I haven't seen any reports of problems like that in the G-class, but one of my friends with a C240 had those problems a few months ago.

Thanks for response. It's a 2003. These alarms don't activate unless the door(s) or hood are completely open/up. They should activate at the backup/safety lock position. I mean who is going to drive with the hood completely open?

Ahhh, now i understand. This is common for all G-class models, going back since they first added those sensors. They don't warn you unless the doors are fully open. It's really annoying especially since they require quite a bit of force to close.

The problem probably lies in the fact that the door mechanisms are unchanged since this vehicle was first designed. That's because they are ultra reliable and have worked very well in the harshest conditions. The issue is that retro-fitting the sensors to those door mechanisms is probably non-trivial. In all other MB models, the door locks were designed with these sensors in mind.

MB probably should fix this...but it would probably require a new door design.
