0-60 times for G 500 Confusion
I have read alot of reviews and some state the G 500 can do 0 60 in 7 Seconds and some say a sluggish 10-11 second time.
Im really confused there are so many 0-60 times that all just seem odd for a 5.0 liter MB engine.
Any one know the real deal? I really think its between
7-8 secs.
Thanks

From german website (0-100 km/h) (=0-62,5 mph):
Beschleunigung 0 - 100 km/h [s]
Automatikgetriebe
10,2

GBaby, an excellent question. Most manufactures data quotes 0-60 times as about 10secs. MB really tends to underestimate performance in all corporate literature. Motor Trend's 12/01 issue times the G500 0-60 in 7.5, 1/4 mile 15.9. These times are more realistic. No way it takes 10+ secs to 60. Compare the ML 500 to ML 55. ML 500 0-60 6.8, ML 55 0-60 6.2. Sure the G is about 500 lbs more but 500 lbs does not equal 3 seconds. The G55 is rated to 60 in 7.2 figure the G500 is around 7.5 to 7.8. The ML 55 is about 54hp more than the ML 500. That 54hp is worth about 6/10's of a second. HP difference between the G500 and G55 is roughly the same so figure the G500 is about 6/10's slower to 60 than the G55. That brings the G500 to 60 in the mid to high 7's.
Something to think about.

Re: Wrong...Our G500 along with few others checked out, Street start 0-60 in approx. 8sec
Wrong?
If you are going downhill 500 pounds of extra weight might be in your favor!
On a level field, the G500 takes more than 10 seconds of acceleration from 0 to 60 mph.
