San Francisco Auto Show
Here's a link to some photos I took at the San Francisco Auto Show, including a few of the G500 that was on display at the MBUSA booth. Too bad they kept it locked (unlike all the other vehicles on display at the booth).

Nice pictures... That Aston Martin Vanquesh looks tight ! Looked like a good show. The Los Angeles Auto Show should be here soon. I'll have to go and have a peak.

Oh my gosh, look at that Gullwing!! *drool* What is the BMW X5 4.6is? Is that BMW's answer to the ML55? Jimmy, why couldn't you have your G-wagen fixed? It didn't look THAT bad.

The X5 4.6is is BMW's answer to the ML55. It costs $68k.
My old G-class is a write-off. I hit a Nissan Patrol from behind in a low speed accident. Though there wasn't much visible damage to my 300GE (Brabus 3.6), the chasis was slightly bent. The driver's side doors did not open/close cleanly. The Nissan Patrol was also a write-off. Luckily, it was a low speed impact (40km/h) and no one was injured.
The car is/was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where I grew up. I bought it in 1997 (it's a 1991 model) for $22,000 and had it until this past April. Mercedes wanted $25k to repair it, which was more than the insured value so the insurance company gave me the cash and then turned around and sold it to someone for $18k for parts. This was in April. I loved that car...as you can see from the pictures on my site I got to take it out off-roading quite often.
You have to remember that in the Middle East, Mercs are VERY common so resale values are low. I could purchase a one year old G55 for less than what I'm paying for the G500 I have on order here.
