Do G63s run hot?

I've been meaning to post this question sooner...

My temp gauge goes all the way up to the 3/4 mark, essentially 1/4 removed from the red hash mark.

None of my other cars/vehicles ever ran this hot. My experience is the temp needle may budge a bit over half the temp gauge markings, but never this far near the red danger zone.

Inasmuch that the temp gauge has no numerical temp readings, and before I contact my dealer, are u all experiencing the same thing?

TIA/BB

All MB's tend to run on the hotter side, don't worry. Not sure why they just don't make the Temp Gauge a Higher Temperature so it runs in the middle, however you are fine.

My G gets intermittently warm under the drivers dash at times while I'm driving, where it makes my leg sweat a little. This only happens ever so often and the weather has nothing to do with it. Do you know why?

For a big 563hp TT V8 stuffed into a small engine bay, I think the average running temp on a G63 is just fine. If you scroll through some of the displays on the instrument cluster, you will find the "AMG" mode that will give you real time temps of your coolant, transmission, and gear oil. My coolant (engine temp) has never exceeded 220*F, and that is under hard driving with the AC on in 100+* weather.

FYI...the temp gauge is more or less meaningless. 2/3 - 3/4 is where the needle resides most of the time but it probably takes a 30* deviation to move into the red....it would take a serious cooling system malfunction or blown head gasket to do that.
