designo Desert Sand - 464
Has anyone seen this color on a G? The picture from the dealer order book (which is a poor rendition, as it is from a copy machine, etc.) seems to have a lot of yellow in it. Doesn't seem anything at all like the military version of desert sand that I am familiar with.
Just curious, as my Mercedes dealer says I still have time to make a change from Polar White to Desert Sand, without affecting my production date. Of course, it adds $6500 to the MSRP. I'm thinking it might be a nice fit with the new black bull bar and Night Package, though.

I just found this picture on line. It looks sort of yellowish, similar to what my dealer showed me in his order book. I really thought a "true" desert sand color looked quite a bit different than this paint scheme. Would look better with the black bull bar, IMHO

Thanks for posting the excellent picture, dunderhi! Having now seen these pictures, I'm not sure I'm all that enamored with this Mercedes version of designo Desert Sand, but I suppose some will like it.
BTW, I sure hope there is rear license plate holder solution that is a lot nicer than what this guy has on his G550!

2018 G63 AMG x2, 2017 BMW M6
I have seen this MANY times in person...natural and artificial lighting. Our local Mercedes dealer, Keyes European had several 2017 and 2018 G63 in this colour. IMO, one of the most awful colours on a G, Mercedes or any car for that matter. I do understand colour is very personal, but this is beyond dreadful to me!

Well, I guess Mercedes Benz must think designo Desert Sand is a pretty awesome color, in terms of its wide ranging marketplace of a plethora of at least some of its paying customers, or they wouldn't be charging an extra $6500 for it. 😄
Besides personal choices on car colors, the same phenomenon applies to consumers’ choices re: car brands and models, let alone colors of same. I don’t remember ever seeing quite so much mass hysteria and outrage on Facebook posts as when Kardashian uploaded a picture of her birthday gift from Kayne, a gorgeous lime green 2018 G550 4x4 Squared. The FB fans thought it was such a horribly ugly car.
I also recall the same flurry on Facebook of gushing, and outrageously strong negative comments, about how ugly any/all G-wagons look, each and every time any one of the Kardashion gals is photographed driving one of their G-wagons, regardless of their paint color.
So many of the aforementioned FB fans supposedly hate the looks of the G-wagon. Translation: They’re simply jealous because they can’t afford one, not even close. Simple as that, in many (most?) cases.
Like one of my favorite Econ Profs used to always say, It would be a really boring world if we all thought alike!

MBWorld Fanatic!
that beige one was an MBUSA demo car at the Monterey car week, I was in line for a test drive but the wait was about 2 hours!
Here's another pic with the blue non sport model, you can see the more pronounced fender flares on the sport model (the desert sand one)
It looked really good in person though, it really stands out. Though I think the color does look better on the 460 and 461 Pros with the dark grey fender flares, bumpers and grille surrounds
