No problem at all! I get mine in about 2 week and plan to take the bar off right away so I can get you whatever you need! However, if there is someone else that has taken it off already and wants to lend a hand sooner that would work as well. It should easy for someone to measure the thickness of the bumper at that location and I can send you the template if need be.

I downloaded the template attached earlier in the thread and scaled it based on the dimensions given, and something isn't adding up.

Also, the cutout from the template looks like it is not square, which will complicate things in that I'll need a very exact template before I can model anything in 3d and print out a plug. It will also mean that left and right sides may be different (mirrored)

I can mail it to you if you like and yes, the hole has rounded corners. Email me if you like: blackbirdbobz@gmail.com and I can share my idea.

I redid the template scaling based on the dimensions stated above in the thread, 3.25in x 2.5in This fits much better but still doesnt' look exactly rectangular. My concern isn't about the rounded corners, but the sides aren't perpendicular, at least not from the template. Looks like a much more accurate template will be needed. They can be scanned since I can scale, but they have to be very accurate.

I think it is best if you had the template in your hands and I have no problem at all dropping it in the mail. It looks the same on both sides to me and for the price of stamp it is well worth it! PM me your address and I will send it out. I will include the hole tracing on a piece of paper that wanderlust mailed to me so you will know exactly what size it is!

I received the cutout template from Bob the other day and started to design a plug for the US-Spec bumper cutout on the G550 after brush guard removal. This process will take some trial and error and will require someone volunteering their time also to test fit since I do not have a 2019+ W463A.

If anyone else is interested in doing this and can take the time to remove their brush guard to test-fit 3D printed bumper plugs, please post here. Bob will be getting his truck in a few weeks so worst case we can wait till then.

Thanks!

I’m happy to help with my 2019 G550. I’ve removed my brush bar and I can test the bumper plugs.

I got my G tonight and will post pics when I get everything done. The colors look great but I have not driven it yet since the wife drove it the 2 hours home...G hog! Anyway, I am dropping it off at the detailer tomorrow right after I get the windows tinted and I took the brush bar off and just for the heck of it I tried one of the plugs I ordered and it fits well so this is a good temp. fix until we get the 3D plugs finalized. You can get a couple free samples from www.caplugs.com and the part# is RER-1 1/2x2-10-14::

Car looks great - an amazing vehicle!

The plugs look like a good fit. I'd like to get a few samples (at least 2) so I'll call CAPLUGS tomorrow to ask if they would send some.

Thanks and enjoy your new G

You can order them online, which is what I have done a few time. Here are a couple at the dealer but when I get done it will look a lot different:

Great spec Bob! How long is your truck going to be at the detailers and tint? I'll aim to send out the first back of prints by Monday.

For those of you looking for plugs to cover the holes in the bumper of G550s when the brush bar is removed it will not be long! Stay tuned to this forum for a new thread with details in the near future!

Following as I’d consider Bullbar delete for the weight savings off the front alone!

I thought I'd update in this thread too. I've been working with Bob to test fit 3D printed plug designs on the W463A G550 bumper after brush guard removal. Working through the last small issues today and will be getting hopefully the last set out to Bob this week, along with another member for test fitting. I'll update after feedback from those test fits.

Is there anyone in the NJ/NJ/CT area that has a W463A G550 looking to delete their brush guard willing to allow me to test fit 3D printed bumper plugs so I can confirm they are good to go? I can go to you, or we can meet somewhere and I'll be taking measurements + a ton of pictures.

See Post #48 - he was wrong, back in 2018. Shiann posted just above that he is working on them now - there is NO company that makes them for the revised (2019+) G550 or comparable model with the full brush bar (non G63)

Was this ever resolved, is there a solution out there to plug the holes from removing the Bull bar on 2019-2021 G550?

I just read a thread the other day where someone removed it and plugged them...search for it and it should be easy to find.
