Either way, my point is that they're selling.

You're right. The sales are Feb sales are greatly inflated due to the ridiculous delay and many months backlog with the G63. If you look at G-Class sales in Europe (where G63 was available from the get go and has been available for 8 months now), they aren't really much improved over the old model. I think the G-Class will always remain a niche vehicle, no matter what improvements there are. The look is certainly not for everyone. I'd prefer it that way too.

OTOH, if MBUSA would wake up and offer the G350d for sale in the US...

Those are on completely different price levels. The G is cross shopped with maybe a V8 Supercharged/Autobiography Range Rover not Rolls-Royce. No one buys Rolls for value, they buy it for bling and exclusivity. I drove one over the weekend and it I think it's kind of overrated - doesn't feel as opulent as a Phantom, and the tech is weaker than it's cheaper competition. Does flash very well though.

A seasoned AMG salesman told me this .Renntech was the source of the power discrepancy figures.

????

Sound like your watching too much CNN. An anonymous source told an AMG sales agent who told you that an insurance companies (unknown) FORCED Mercedes! Total BS.

Cost. They'd have to certify a diesel engine in the U.S. and just for a few sales. Doesn't make sense unless they offered the new I6 diesel across several model lines. You can thank VW for basically killing diesel for the Germans in this country. They're too scared to attempt it again.

G Members, just sharing a post I saw from Intally1984 on instagram. One of the best shots ive seen, particularly the water flowing out of the lower wheel gaps etc.

Which is why you simply drive the car through your local car wash. Salt water problems solved. :)

Sarlox 03-13-2019 04:57 PM

Nope, once the salt gets in, a simply car wash will not remove.

Tommy's Car Wash would totally handle cleaning off salt water. One is being built in my area. Whoopie!

Nope, that wouldn't get inside every single crack and crevice.

I’ve learned that MB is prioritizing orders from Asia, especiallly China, as there’s a lot more demand and MB dealers making a lot of margins. My g63 has been in the queue for 2 months now but still build hasn’t been kicked off. There are actually US customer g wagons that have been built and sitting in Austria for 2-3 wks as they’re prioritizing shipments to China and building those configurations over US...

Certainly possible. I can say everything went perfectly according to plan with my build. Shipped as planned from Austria and we picked it up a few days ago (even exited Jacksonville, FL port for our dealership less than two days after landing).

There's a live auction going for a Polar White G63 ending in 9 hours.

The build was $167k. Currently it is at $165k (9hours to go). It has about 1000miles on it.

Interesting to see where it lands:
