2015 G550 More Aggressive Tire Help
#26
I'm having my mobile wheel/tire installer (Right Away Tire) install a new set of Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015s in place of my KO2s (the raised white letter ones) so I'll post a picture afterwards. The owner has been in the tire business since birth and know tires (does the local car communities exotics like McLarens, Ferraris, Lambos, Bentley, Rolls, etc - in addition to being a off-road rock climber participant) and really likes and has had great luck with the G015s, so we'll see.

So the raised white letters are going to come on one side of many of the all terrain and mud tires on the market. Generally, the installer will ask if you want the white letters showing or put inwards. I have mine facing inward of course. When you get under the car, you’ll see the letters but you’ll never notice them while driving or walking around the vehicle. If that’s the only thing keeping you from the tires, just get them reinstalled the other way around. They’re just painted for cosmetics as far as I know, the tire is perfectly symmetrical and identical on both sides besides the white. Doesn’t effect performance. You may already have your mind made up but just wanted to make you aware of that if you didn’t already know. Haven’t had experience with the ones you’re getting but if that’s what you’re set on, I hope you enjoy them! Look forward to seeing how they perform!

Oh, I know about facing the white walls in to hide the lettering, but I don't think you understand what a complete whackjob I am. Just knowing the white letters are faced in and there would be enough not to pick that vehicle to drive for the day. Nope, having the G015s put on now and I'm going to put the KO2s on the older 2002 to 2006 G55 18" rims painted matte black (raised white letters out of course)

Here is the Yokohama Geolandar A/T 015s installed. Not as aggressive tread as the KO2s but I'm going to use this set for my summer wheel/tire combo. I'm going to get the 2002-2006 G55 wheel and paint it matte black and put the KO2s on them and run them as my winter set (in Idaho). Once I get those on, I'll post pics. Thanks.
Oh, and I went with a slightly taller tire (a 265/65/18 vs. the stock 265/60/18 size). I think it fills in the wheel well a bit better, at least with an 18" wheel.
