I plan to put Black tips on mine - the less chrome the better for me.

Say what? That's like claiming a ZR1 Corvette is the same as a base model because they share a block. Mercedes makes the engines for the 550, AMG hand builds the engines for the 63 with over a third more hp and torque. They also have different suspension set ups. I'm not sure you understand what AMG does.

I have a brand new AMG GTC and owned a C63 507 Edition for 5 years. I fully understand what AMG does. You however, do not.

Just skimmed through all your posts... man you know how to waste time and add Zero value!

I dont care what you claim to own. You are clueless. You obviously dont know what makes a G63 different than a 550.

Back to the topic of the thread: Can someone tell me the inlet size of the AMG tips? There must be some tips from another vehicle that my muffler shop can use so even though I have a few months before mine arrives it will give me time to find some.

Actually they share the same block but the engine as a whole is quite different. They are assembled in different factories. 550 engine is assembled in Stuttgart while the 63 engine is hand assembled in Affalterbach. So technically it is "lesser" than an AMG engine but certainly no slouch. The 4.0 is probably the most efficient V8 on the market. The range in potential horsepower is quite broad. The AMG engine used in the 63 is also used in a couple of Aston Martin cars, DB11 and the Vantage I believe. As for the pedals being AMG, these are just a trim piece that can easily be added on any MB. I don't know about the drivetrain but if you research the suspension you will find it to be also quite different.

One difference between the engines appears to be the cylinder deactivation - does anyone know if the G550 has this?

In terms of the suspension - I’ve actually looked at both a G63 and G550 that were hoisted at my dealership, and the suspension seems identical. I’m sure the adjustable dampers are calibrated differently, but even they look the same externally. So I don’t think the suspension is different other than calibration; but perhaps someone here can clarify.

Omg. Sugar is making these brilliant insights on AMG based on a brief visual inspection? That's too much. Maybe put a nitrous kit on a 550 and call it a G63. You need to tear the engine down to see the differences. You missed some important components on the suspension as well. You already rebadged your 550, huh. "But it has the same pedals."

Both have the deactivation.

The suspension is different, the AMG has an adaptive adjustable damping system which the 550 does not. As for the drivetrain the AMG comes with the speed shift transmission.

A20 Suspension with Adaptive Damping Adjustment can be optioned on the G550 for $1400, which is what I did.

Same here. And the shocks look the same on the G550 and G63. They are probably calibrated differently, but the units themselves look the same. Unlike every other car in the MB portfolio which has an AMG 63 variant, the G550 and G63 are very similar.

2020 MB G550
Adaptive Adjustable Damping System

The G550 has the adaptive adjustable damping system as an option. I have a 2020 that I just bought 2 weeks ago and it has it.

Absolutely nothing - if I made my living with my fingers -- surgeon, pianist, sculptor, luthier, etc., -- no way would I be even changing a tire.

Looks great to me!
I got a ‘16 G550 last week and now I’m searching for some AMG tips to do the same thing, replace my stock ones.
Any tips or advise please?
thanks in advance 🏁😎
