19’ G550 needs exhaust tips... guidance please

Hi

loving the new G but I feel like the uogrades exhaust need the tips to honor the sound when taking off.

i imagine I should buy some tips on eBay and have them installed but I have no idea what I’m doing or if the kind I buy matters. I would prefer it looks original as possible.

any suggestions guys/gals?

ps, night package doesn’t black out the rims so I will powder coat rims soon, tips l, remove the bull bar and I’m good to go!

I can’t offer you any help, but I just wanted to share I think the G looks much cleaner without any visible tips. When I considered the G63, I figured I would remove (hacksaw?) the visible tips along with debadging to clean it up.

Did you ever put any tips on? If so please post the details and a pic.

I own just basic tools and I hate to get my hands dirty so other than doing a few cosmetic things I pay for everything else...what is wrong with that?

Every forum has at least one idiot/homophob and part-time wannabe comedian, and you meet the criteria, and my wife agrees.

If you have nothing intelligent to say, and I am quite confident that you don't, keep things to yourself. This is a thread about exhaust tips.

Not sure what you are asking here, but putting "AMG exhaust tips" on a non AMG is alot like putting on brake caliper covers. It stands out, not in a good way, to any one familiar with the models.

Spot on.

As far as I know it does not appear one can simply bolt tips on the G550 am have them exit from the sides so a muffler shop would be required for most owners. There are quite a few elcheapo tips on fleaBay but quality is a concern when they don't always say what they are made of,. and even then you have to take their word, especially if from Asia. By the way, I was looking at something else from over there and nothing can be shipped out until at least the 10th due to the virus.

"Then again, u don't buy a g wagen for it's ride quality. IMO no range Rover (I've owned several) will ever give u the feeling a g wagen can every single day - that feeling of indestructibility, coolness, and flat making you smile."
Embarrassing.

A friend of mine with a 2019 G63 modified his exhaust and gave me his tips. They certainly do not bolt on, as the stock does not exit to the sides.

It cost me $300 for the muffler shop to install the tips. Since the tips were free, I feel it was worth it. I don't consider myself a Poseur for having the exhaust, although my tires may put me into that category

I agree. We got one guy with AMG tips on a non-AMG, and another looking at Ebay for tips to put on a 140K truck while wanting them to look as "original" as possible which doesn't even make sense.

So so so many opinions.....

So my "basic bare bones" G550 that has AMG options from the factory is now second rate because I put on AMG tips later? What if they were in next years option package, am I ok then? Maybe they shouldn't allow AMG options at all on us bare bones people.

Tough crowd

It’s no less an AMG as the G63 - same engine, same drivetrain, even the pedals in the 550 are AMG.
