New 2019 G550 Owner "Niggles"
Hi Guys-
After what seemed like an eternity, my G550 is finally here.
Not sure how the other owners are getting along with the car, but mine replaced a 2013 G550 and there is a bit of a learning curve with the car. Here's some questions/issues I'm having, curious if others have encountered?
CarPlay and spotify don't play nice
When I have my iPhone plugged in and in CarPlay mode, Spotify is jittery and unusable. The entire system seems to freeze after a few minutes then disconnects. This is my first CarPlay car and was curious if anyone else had this issue? I know iOS 12 is really buggy and am thinking it may have something to do with the software? (either on the car or phone)
Front license plate holder solution
On my previous G, I got the front plate holder that forum member myfirstg500 made. It was bulletproof and I loved it. Anyone here have a solution yet? I think the dealer suggested they drill in the bumper but of course I told them I did not want this.
Iphone/device mounting position
Anyone figure a nice solution to clip their phone and keep it visible while driving? I always use a vent mount but the new design doesn't work.

Hi Bigcrown, congrats on your 2019.
1. Not sure about the Apple CarPlay issues you are having
2. Don't run with a front license plate, it looks better without one
3. We use a windshield mounted iphone holder for our phone

Unfortunately california requires a front plate!

haha, yep WA does too, but we've driven for 20 years without a front license plate and never had an issue. Unless you are driving around drunk, then better to put one on

CA and several other states "require" a front plate (perhaps all require one). In 25 years of driving, I have gotten ONE "fix it" ticket for no front plate. Most dealers here, at least on high end cars, do NOT even attach the front plate holder, since no one uses it!

and attached the front plate holder's flat piece that the license plate itself bolts onto to them. They clamp nicely onto the bullbar on my 2017 G63 and should work fine with your new G550 as long as you don't remove the bullbar. I posted pictures somewhere on this forum or BenzWorld - if you search my posts it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Would like to point out that if anyone here is having trouble with their carplay, to make sure you are using genuine apple cables. I changed my cheapo amazon one to apple OEM and its been perfect.

I have a 2019 G550 and I'd like to find a cell phone mount that looks as integrated as possible with the car itself. Rennline makes a great cell phone mounting device for Porsche, and I'd really like to find something similar to that (see link below), but for my 2019 G550. Does anyone know if / where I can find something along those lines? Thanks.
