I agree. I thought it gave some contrast and size perspective. Quite liked it! I forget what kind of material it was, maybe a strip of reflective/silver rubber that is glued on?

I know what you mean. One of MB major design weaknesses is the way they color coordinate their interiors. They tend to have an odd mix of offsetting colors, even with the special interior options. Different color dashes...different color door panels. I suppose there is some cost savings in not doing the entire interior in one or two colors. I just looked at a beautiful limited edition S Class sedan with an interior pretty close to Maybach standards. But they trimmed some of the interior in black and did not coordinate it with the beautiful brown/tan seats and door cards. It just turned me off in spite of the special exterior paint and special wheels. The MSRP was also up there. A little north of $154K. I would pass just on the basis of the badly matched interior trim. They really need design help in interior design.

As well as blacking out side markers, pre-order planned change: calipers from silver to yellow. thoughts? (lol, i know its not everyone's cup of tea- so don't hold back)

Final look. Drivers side rubs minimally at full lock even despite lift and fender trim. Negligible amount of rub though

As far as I know the factory will only do red or silver (don't think the manufaktur program has that for the G wagon).
However some dealers will have them painted for you (ray catena in NJ, and had a X5M at an NJ edison dealer even offer to deliver with the roof painted a different color). Again, don't think factory will deviate from their normal settings.

My car, ordered in Obsidian Black but then had it wrapped in Xpel Stealth PPF film which I’d previously used on my AMG GTR and been very satisfied with. Pleased with the finished effect and saved me the cost of the magno paint option which I’ve heard and seen mixed reports about quality issues regardless.

As may be - I'm sure yours/most are perfect. I know they can and do get it right (on my green GTR it was perfect) - but there have definitely been some issues with the magno paints on the G-wagon run as I heard it from two different dealers that I buy from and then when visiting one dealer I did actually see one of the cars which a customer was unhappy with. It was really odd, in isolated areas it was like some small air bubbles got in during the paint application process.
