I feel like most anyone with an engine issue would be posting it on this forum, youtube or others. I'm always searching for G info and havent seen more than what we have on this forum.
Given that it feels like a pretty small group of the thousands sold and hopefully therefore it is an edgecase issue.
Fingers crossed of course :-)

2019 G63
Exact same thing happened to my 2019 G63. If you listen to the Salomondrin video above, 4min50s to 5min25s, it literally was me explaining to the dealer what happened to my car. Misfires and check engine light at 4000km, and then the next week complete stall and engine shut off while driving down the road. Dealer service center has had my vehicle for 2 weeks and I have no answer.

after two weeks at dealer they came to the conclusion it was bad gas. They recommended ethanol free 91 or greater octane only. I’m not sure I’m 100percent confident in this but they sent all the data to amg and this is the response they got. I have put on about 300 miles since with no issues.

Thanks for the info! Though I am hopeful it is something simple like bad gas, I am not convinced. The reason is this --all of my re-fuellings, except one, have been at the same station (Shell) where I use 91 octane ethanol-free. On the single occasion where I did not go to Shell, I filled up in a nearby town with Esso 91 octane (up to 5% ethanol). The engine misfires and check engine light happened with the Shell gas, and then the actual engine stoppage/stall happened with the Esso gas. So presuming one thing is related to the other (engine misfires and stalling), then it would have happened while using different fuel at different times (issues occurred a little over a week apart).

Fuel gas tank indicating always empty when the tank is full

I have a new 2019 AMG G63 with few issues.
1) The fuel tank is indicating it’s an empty, when the tank is full?
2) The oil level indicator shows at the full capacity and it’s indicating to empty out the oil.
3) yellow engine sign is on, however it does not blink, I know that’s a good sign when it’s not blinking.
i am in chicago. Mercedes technicians like to replace parts to find out what works before they even know what the problem is.

No more MB:(
Too much tech these days. I can't help but think MB is packing it into these vehicles in an effort to make them more efficient and easier to diagnose/service but at a cost to the customer's experience. I'm sure these are year one gremlins but still, at this price point not acceptable.

So... CR... I don't get you buddy - so there isn't even one Chicago Mercedes dealer that can help you - a 2019 G is under warranty - so why haven't you had a Chicago dealer address your issues ?

I recently passed the 1 year mark on my 2019 Targa GTS and I did not change the oil early. It had about 4k miles on it at the 1 year mark and I followed the break-in procedure and it burned no oil, but I did switch from 0/40 to 5/50 as I am in FL and the engine is super quiet now. Anyway, I plan to follow the same break-in when my G arrives and I suspect I will have zero problems, just as I suspect the vast majority has.

Engine break in is really a thing of the past. I know more than a few guys that took delivery of their GT3RS or GT2RS and taken them directly to the track with only dealer miles on them. And run them hard......

Modern Engines are machined to the point where the break in is in material at this point....especially with cars of this level.

Believe what you want as this has been and will be a debate that will continue; however, I did not have a problem varying my speed, changing gears often and keep the rpms below 4k for the first 1500 miles - better to play it safe.

I’ve owned 4 BMW with the 4.4L V8TT engines, which are notorious oil burners. BMW said add a quart of oil ever 500 miles is within spec. All of my Bimmers burned less than quart every 10k miles. Why? I broke them in hard. Two of them at 130-150mph with less than 20 miles on the odometer. I had to go a bit slower for my US delivered cars, but I still broke them in hard. The sad part was that the guys who broke in their cars by the book and babied their cars seemed to have the worst oil issues.

More 2019 G63 Problems

I have previously posted on this thread about the many problems with my 2019 G63. My friend has one as well, and his just stalled on a highway entrance ramp and then this message appeared. There is something wrong with these vehicles.

Porsche bench tests each NA GT at 8k RPM for 10 minutes straight. Factory drivers have said take it easy for 500 miles and after that when the engine oil is warm, do what you want. RL has tons of posts on this very topic and no one has experienced a failure that can be attributed to non adherence to break-in protocol. They’re pushed hard (myself included).

+1. The 4.4 NA and turbo burn oil. Your break in sounds more like an Italian tune up.

That’s totally fine. Refer to the owner’s manual, especially during break-in. Have you been driving it hard?
That said, my G550 has 8200 km and has not consumed any oil... but the owner’s manual will tell you how much is normal.

Yeah and Porsche GT3 engines regularly fail. Even the 991.2 GT3 has had multiple engine failures, despite Porsche saying they “fixed” the issues with the 991.1 GT3 engine. Check out YouTube - the Swedish guy (forgot his name).

These issues were due to overly sensitive knock-detection software and (slightly) bad fuel which would cause the engine to stall and generally misbehave. This was fixed. I’ve had 0 issues with my 2019 G550 in 8200 km.

Not 991.2. The 991.1 has well known issues with finger fillers. I know this because I’ve owned both.

Please provide evidence about the 991.2 GT3 because you b$ too much. And not one or two engines. I need 3 for it to be statistically significant. The 991.2 is a cup engine that can take way more abuse than a road car can give it. It had a higher redline in the cup car too.

“finger fillers”...?

Here’s an example of the 991.2 GT3 engine failing. This is why he sold the car.

Then there's Nick Murray, who had not one, but TWO lemon'ed 991s, a 991.1 and a 991.2. Probably worse than an engine failure:

Go and check the forums for more examples - I’m not your secretary. +1 Ignore list

Finger follower. Auto correct strikes again. If you know about the engine you’d know about the problem that causes the failure. You can’t provide more than three 991.2 failures because there aren’t many and if there are they’re not that easy to find. One isn’t statistically significant (but neither is three for that matter). I could say all g classes will be plagued by engine failures based on your flawed logic based on some YouTubers alleged engine failure. That particular youtuber has a history of having his cars lemoned.

Nick Murray’s car isn’t a GT car and wasn’t broken in at 8k rpm. It had electrical problems which are exceedingly more common in Merc’s than Porsche.

I search the forums and am very active on RL and know the 991.2 engines RARELY fail.

I didn’t mean for you to get butthurt for calling you out on your repeated claims that the 63 engine is the same as the 550. Stop posting bs.

The Finger Follower was a issue on the 991.1 GT3s, if it happens on the 991.2's its not the same thing.
