2019 G63 Extended Warranty Question

I placed my order last August, Friday the dealership informed me my order just went to X2 status or two days away from production start. It is to be completed on May 9 and expected it to arrive 4-6 weeks after that.

Today I stopped by to get pricing on various extended warranty items. Since 2007 I have purchased 6 new Mercedes and always sell them after two years to get a new one. However this time I am really thinking that I will keep the G for maybe 6 years as the styling wont change that much. Here is what i was quoted, just wondering what others think about any of these items.

3 year, 75K mile extended limited warranty $6,899 if purchased within 30 days of delivery some discount offered the day of purchase OR $8,278 at a later date but before the standard warranty expires. I am thinking if you wait until the 4 year is about to run out there is no way any discount would be offered.

Glass Breakage, 5 year no deductible $1,780 Definitely getting this because of all the cracked windshields I have seen here.

Wheel & Tire $2,488, no deductible. I am not getting this, instead I am buying a brand new 22 inch wheel and tire to have as a spare if needed, cost is less than $2,488 and I can always sell it later and get 70% of my money back.

Key Replacement $399 for 5 years and Paintless Dent Repair 599 5 years with unlimited visits

Contact Jeff Jackson from Tafel motors or Cassandra from this forum for a much much better quote on that extended warranty
they’re gouging uou.

Pdr might be worth it. Key replacement. Not so much. I haven’t lost a key in 20 years.

Glass policy seems really high too. I was quoted about $1,000 but the policy is capped at $5,000, which I think only gets you one windshield based off of what others have been paying for their replacements. I passed because my insurance deductible is only $500.

PDR might be worth it depending on how often you've got dents on other cars/your area.

Definitely search around for the extended warranty. I didn't buy it, but I bought an extended warranty for my SLS right before the original expired and was able to get a really good discount. Definitely shop around regardless.

A gaggle of MB's
1. +3yr/75K is MB MSRP $6,700 - so your Finance guy is just trying to hose you a little

2. After 30 days from purchase - Mercedes MSRP goes up 15% - dealer cost for the warranty goes up 5% - although each year about September Mercedes does review MSRP for warranty

3. If Extended Warranty is not used - vehicle sold or traded before 4Yr/50K new car warranty expires - 100% refundable.

4. If you go past 4Yrs/50K into the Extended Warranty - then time of sale or trade - warranty is refundable based on remaning time - or remaining miles - whichever is less - and the pro-rated amount LESS any paid Extended Warranty Claims is the final # you might get back

5. Glass Breakage - get FULL DETAILS from your dealer - which includes installed cost of MB replacement windshield - confirm what the policy covers and what the max cap will cover - and if the policy covers more than once

6. You "think" you can buy a new G63 wheel w/new tire for less than $2400 - you might check that with the dealer and with eBay

7. Key Replacement - the G63 key is well over $399 - you MUST check if that policy covers reprogramming as well - and what the cap is on coverage - meaning how many times will a key be replaced and coded

8. PDR - now you need to think how a PDR guy is restricted with what they can and can't do with a G-Wagen body panel - or a hail damaged roof - $599 is throwing money away as PDR (when it can be done) is like $75 for a panel

9 You haven't mentioned Interior - and frankly there can be some good coverage there depending on what you dealer has to offer.. extending the New Car Warranty helps you on interior issues as well
