Recently drove into a parking garage, have to check the clearance again, may have been 6’5, not knowing height of car started scraping in random areas of garage. How common is this? Car fits in my garage didn’t think it would be a problem, I think some signs were hanging lower than initial clearance height.
Anyway, roof is very scraped up along with glass sunroof.
Garage was in Glendale CA at the Galleria Mall.
SO sorry. I did this in Beverly Hills about 10 years ago in our of our Gs...crunch going in, crunch going out :-O If I close my eyes, I can still hear it! If a garage is not 6'8 or higher...I do not take the G in!
I came close in a downtown Boston garage. That was the last time. I marked the height of the G on my visor and and wouldn't venture into a garage that was even close. Most garages have the height restriction listed at the entrance. What I did notice is that sometimes electrical boxes and conduit hang down lower than the height listed. So leave some margin if you venture into an unknown garage. This is one of the drawbacks of the G in a city environment. Luckily live in the suburbs and don't have to worry about this too often. What you can do if you find yourself in a jam while in a garage is to let the air out of the tires to lose a few inches and refill as quickly as possible once you clear the garage. Refinishing the roof and replacing the glass sunroof is no joke. Best of luck with the repairs.
I've taken my '10G55 into 6"6' garages. I've opened up the sunroof a few times to check against low hanging elements and while close i've never had an issue.
The 2019 G63 DOG has the height at 1.969meters; 6' 5.5"
Soon: 2020 G63 Currently: 2016 GLE63 SUV + 97 F250HD, Before: 2013 G550, Range Rover Sport, 1984 CJ7
If you have the 22" wheels (295/45/ r22 tires) the G sits about 0.8" higher than the DOG which used 20" wheel setup as measurement. It is not much, but in situations like this, it matters.

Below is 295/45/ r22 vs 275/50/ r20
Thank you for pointing that out but your math is wrong, 31.3-30.8 = 0.5" diameter or 0.25" radius (car height) difference.
Yes I have 22" rims, I have to go back and check out what height the sign said, I figured I can always get my Raptor through garages wouldnt be a problem.... Interestingly enough, my spare on the G63 is 20", must just be for decoration lol
