2019/20 jump seats?
Copy says fits up to 2018
Anyone know is there a 'new series' European equivalent to the jump seats that were available in the pre '19 G? My fleet has included a fantastic VW Eurovan for many years but at 275K+ miles it really is ready to retire. Very nice to have for the rare times when we've got a big group to transport to an event. My 550 will be built in September, and I'd love to find an inward facing jumpseat like the one sold in Europe for the earlier cars... (I've emailed fourbyfourclub and will report what i learn)

Hmm, didn't know about the woofers, darn. Maybe the added vehicle width compensates for thicker walls. Might make it harder to find some structure to drill into, tho.

2019 G-class rear cargo area
Kind of amazing, but of the thousands of online photos around the release of the new G-wagen, spanning ~2 years now, I have found only one photo of the rear compartment. Clearly the jumpseat question will present new challenges.

If only someone were willing to grab a tape measure and measure the cargo space in their 2019... I had asked the local dealer to measure one they had in stock for a short time, but apparently nobody could find a tape measure.
Unless those side panels are steel and attached very securely, I suspect jump seats aren't going to be possible in the new design; at least not without some custom work.
I really wish that Mercedes had designed the rear seats to be removable (like many mini vans) and skipped that hump behind the rear seats so maximum (and flat) cargo space could be achieved by removing 1 or both rear seats. When traveling with a driver and 1 or 2 passengers, there are times when it would be really handy to be able to pull one of the rear seats out to make more room for "stuff".

I think what we're headed for is a custom fabricated bench seat against width of rear door, forward facing seating accessed by folding down 60/40 seatback. Anchored by those tie down D rings.

Watching the video, it looks like the usable cargo space is down from the previous generation. I'm going to need to get a chance to measure one and play around with the rear seats before deciding to order a 2019+ or not. I really don't want to have less cargo space than I have in my 2017.

If any MY '19 owner wants to be a hero and measure the interior cargo space so we know what we're dealing with it would be appreciated!

There was a thread started asking for the cargo dimensions just after the 2019's started showing up, but no 2019 owner seems to have been willing to spend a couple of minutes to take a few measurements and post a reply. If the local dealer had one in stock, I'd go do it myself, but the one they did have (briefly) that wasn't already spoken for didn't stick around long enough for me to get there to measure.

On the plus side, I did not realize the rear seats fold all the way forward, so with the seats folded up, total rear cargo area is much better than first appearances although not as nice as if they came all the way out.

but not flat to the trunk/cargo area. While the G trunk might be technically smaller than others, I really like how tall it is. It makes up for what might be a narrow width.

I got to see a 2019 in the showroom today (Charles Barker Mercedes, VA Beach in case anyone is shopping for a black one immediate delivery!) . Naturally I forgot my tape measure but called the salesguy who provided this info on size of cargo floor:
28" Deep
42" Wide
43" Height
28" Deep
42" Wide
43" Height

42" Wide
43" Height
40" Deep (from the rear seat at floor level to the inside of the rear door)
38 3/4" Wide
44 1/2" Height (Floor to ceiling)
The depth measurement is the one I was most concerned with and it sounds like my concern was justified - 12" is a significant loss in depth assuming that measurement was taken at floor level. This also doesn't factor in that the wheel wells are a LOT higher in the new model, so the slight increase in width between the wheel wells is more than lost by the wheel wells being so much taller.
I guess the good news is that this info significantly curbs my enthusiasm to trade in my 2017 any time soon.

Thank you for providing this. For comparison purposes, I just measured the floor on my 2017 G63 and came up with the following:
40" Deep (from the rear seat at floor level to the inside of the rear door)
38 3/4" Wide
44 1/2" Height (Floor to ceiling)

cabin’s additional legroom...

Not for me it isn't as I make use of the cargo space fairly regularly, but usually don't have more than 1 passenger and there's plenty of legroom for me and any passenger I've had in the front Legroom in the back of the older model obviously isn't generous, but I'm 6 feet tall and have found it to work out fine even on long trips (such as a ~2500 mile ~10 day trip to Newfoundland with my brother and father) when rotating drivers and passengers so everyone gets time in each seat. The total car length is ~5" longer than the previous generation, so I'm shocked to see the cargo space lose 12" of depth even factoring in the increased legroom in the 2nd row. I sat in the front seat of a '19 G550 at the local dealer's launch event and it didn't feel like they had given the front row much additional legroom. The bottom line is that we each have our own priorities, so if you're happy with less cargo space I'm not going to say you're wrong, but for me it's a huge negative.
