Stuck between a rock & a hard place...Chance to get “experienced” ‘19 G63.....

Hi y’all,

I’m current on the wait list & probably won’t get to finalize my order until January 2020 at the earliest.

I have an opportunity to get an experienced ‘19 G63 with around 2000 miles on it (previous owner got it in April). It’s got all the options I would’ve liked....except the color. It’s selenite grey.....I wanted to get iridium silver. It doesn’t look like I’ll get a price break despite the beast having a previous owner.....

The only thing holding me back is the color....the argument the other way is the wait time....I’ve never really compromised on any options in the past for all my other vehicles...LoL....1st world problems, I know!

i’d like to hear any thoughts my fellow mates can send my way......

Cheers,
Yar

Buy it and wrap to the color you’d like. It’s close enough where you can get away with it while protecting the original paint.

Go for it. I happen to like selenite. With 2000 miles I wouldn't hesitate. Good luck with your decision.

How did you get the dealer to not put the front plate on you G? Mine had it on delivery. Wasn't happy about it either. Didn't feel like giving them a hard time but annoying nonetheless. Looks slick.

I guess it depends on the dealer - they essentially checked with me for everything...

Many cars...
If you could order a car at MSRP, I would say wait until January and build a car to your spec. It's only a few months away.

I see alot of G63s on ebay, autotrader with 2-3k miles. Not sure it's an odd amount, but just thought to myself is there something people are discovering at the 2000 mile mark? Dont think so but just curious for those with a few months on theirs.

Maybe it's the idea of people able to sell theirs for a profit? (and patiently awaiting a 2021build)?

Johnnyderm,

I was thinking the same thing. I’m sure dealerships will devise some sort of “security deposit” that they keep for a period of time (like a year) & then reimburse you after proof of possession during that time frame. When there’s a will there’s a way to flip these trucks.

There really isn't any way that MBUSA or the dealer can prevent you from "flipping" the truck for a profit. What MBUSA is most concerned about is having units purchased and exported. If this kind of activity is detected MBUSA goes after the dealership for some pretty significant fees (penalties). Exporting is strongly frowned upon and enforceable through the franchise agreement.

I guess MBUSA or a dealership could enforce an “export deterrent “ deposit after a certain amount of time that would go back to the client.

I took delivery of my 2019 G63 2 weeks ago. I had to sign paperwork promising not to export the vehicle for xx months (I forgot what it was; 18 I believe). I specifically asked my dealer to make certain that the front license plate wasn't mounted, that the window sticker wasn't adhered nor folded, and that the packaging materials on the carpets were left in place.

My dealer obliged. I received the truck with the front license plate holder in the trunk and a perfectly unfolded, virgin window sticker laying on the back seat without a wrinkle.

I get the plates, but why did you care about the sticker? Is that for resell purposes or just a cool thing to keep?

Interesting - I usually hide mine from my wife so not to remind her of those things. Otherwise it'll be my head on display in the garage.

G63 at MSRP?

What is the ask for the dark grey wagon? My neighbor is trying to find a 2019-20 for his wife for Christmas present and currently the above MSRP is above principle (he will not pay what they are asking over MSRP). Any ideas how to find one at a normal price?

The normal price is MSRP+ADM, if u want msrp on the AMG model the only way is order new and wait for 10~12 months. I ordered mine before my wife pregnant, she delivered the baby, but the truck still on its way to the States.

I always have the window sticker laminated just for posterity sake. Many Porsche and Ferrari dealers already do this normally for their clients automatically.
