2019 G63 Trunk Width?

Anyone know or can measure the width of the truck space floor? Trying to determine if I can fit my "pelican" case which is just over 50"

There's already a thread for this topic. I posted actual measurements in post 5. Just keep in mind that they aren't precise measurements, but that Pelican case definitely isn't going to fit on the floor behind the 2nd row seats.

Appreciate the link. I might be able to place the Case above the wheel wells in the truck. That area is pretty wide. Could even build a custom holder perhaps to lock it in place. The 1452mm converts to 57" minus a could inches.

Welp - another reason to "I cant want to get my g63" :-). Thanks for the help gentlemen.

Yes, putting it above the wheel wells might work, but definitely make sure you do something to lock it in place. The wheel wells in the new model are a LOT taller than the previous generation, so there's a loss in usable cargo space there. I built a cargo shelf that sits slightly above the wheel wells on my 2017 - when the rear seats are folded down, I've got a nearly level surface from the rear door to the back of the front seats and usable space under the shelf (there's about 10" to work with) for smaller stuff. It doesn't look like it will be possible to do something similar on the new model because the new seats fold to a lower height. Setting up a shelf to be level with the seats will only leave a few inches under the shelf, so that space would be wasted. I'm really not thrilled with what they've done with the cargo space on the new model. On the whole, the new interior is a really nice upgrade and additional leg room is appreciated, but they seem to have forgotten that some of us actually put stuff in the back too.

Yeah - in addition to a case, I will also have all the things that come with 2 year old twins! Stroller, etc. Will be a tight fit! But a sacrifice I am totally ok with. Pack tight and light.

Cargo area is a real mess. No two ways about it. Only an issues 2% of the time for me, but the loss of space is noticeable and substantial. The older Gs had adequate space but made use of that space very well. The new Gs have suboptimal space and there are fewer creative ways to use the space. I remain torn over the raw / utilitarianism pre-19 Gs versus the highly refined and amazing 2019. These really are two entirely different vehicles that happen to look similar and have similar off road capabilities. Real marvels of technology. Never owned or driven and older first gen G wagon but think over time there will be some folks that remain loyal to the Pre-19 Gs.

The cargo width is 541/2" above the wheel wells. Problem is drivers side is higher than passenger side which has a dip. Note to designers make the width 45" as I know you don't golf.

My wife is pregnant and there is a chance they might be twins (will find out next week).

My G arrives sometime in November and the possibility of all that baby gear has me looking at the Heritage Edition LC instead. Would MUCH rather have the G.

Was considering the Weathertech rear Pet Divider as a means to stack up baby gear in the trunk up to ceiling without it flying forward into the cabin. Similar to the divider offered on the new Defender. Thoughts?

I have twin two year olds. No matter how big your car is it’s not enough space :-).

Stick with the G. The upright room is nice for PackNPlays and strollers which is primarily what takes up space (big square like stuff)

You will not be able to fit that Pelicase nicely and if you do lay it across the top above the wheel arches you will not be able to use the cargo cover.

This lower space is 107cms just over 42inches. I have a gun case that sits on the boxes show across into the space to the right of this picture. That space is 123cms wide

First item I toss from a new car is that cargo cover. Always in the way. My rear / rear sides are always tinted black so no one can see in. The cover is in the way.

Anyway. Measured it out at dealer this morning The 50” will fit snug across the wheel wells and I can open the case while it’s fitted above the wheel wells. (Kinda looks bad *** too - but I won’t disclose what’s inside it :-).

Will send photos once once all set up in my truck when it comes.

Just noticed the tape measure. Thanks HOULBT. I don’t trust the benz measurements to real world space. Appreciate the measure!
