First thing I’m doing is slapping on some Nitto Ridge Grapplers to! Mine being produced late this month.

has anyone ever tried contacting main HQ daimler or germany for real updates on your order instead of asking from your own local dealer?
There is no point on doing that because they will tell you to contact your local dealer. Ask your sales person to send you a copy of the status of your car every week. You cannot track a car like your Amazon package.
Well... it can be 10 days to 2 weeks from Graf to German Port... then ship gets assigned at port .. then when loaded and ship sails you can get vessel from your Sales Adviser if you want to track that cruise.
Yes - your Dealer is the portal for information - they look up "VII" status in NetStar - which gives production and shipping status..

FYI My 2020 G63 arrived at Birmingham GA VPC on Friday after about 2 weeks on the water. My dealer gave me a delivery date of Oct 28. I was unable to track mine until the ship left port and then only by using the ship's information. My dealer has kept me posted on the build progress since ordered in July. It is an agonizing wait.

I don't recall the date but mid-July. My dealer had one slotted for another customer who cancelled and offered to me. I was able to make all changes I desired. So far very smooth process. Fingers crossed MB meets delivery date but feel better now that is is stateside. I have my build sheet/sticker if you are interested MSRP $170,195

Interesting that you got a delivery date when the 2020 G has not been released yet.
My 2020 G was done on 9/19 and hit the water on 10/6 with several stops along the East Coast. It just left Charleston NC for a stop in Cristobal, Panama before it makes the final journey to Long Beach. The boat is scheduled to dock on November 10th. If your dealer provides you the name of the boat you can track it on the Marinetraffic app.
