G550 2019 lift warning

1.5” lift with BFG 275/55R20.

I lifted my g550 with a 40mm spring kit and now my adaptable suspension is screwed up. Warning light goes off ever time I start the vehicle and the suspension setting is constantly in sport mode. Any advise welcome.

Check your connections bud. Had the same problem and it was just a plug.

FYI, my GWagon at stock with OEM 22" just barely (centimeters) fits under 6' 6"

Looks amazing though! That approach angle is hot! I would love to do the same. Mine is being produced this week. Same color combo but with the all black AMG package wheels.

More pictures of your G please!

This is the very reason I skipped out on the adaptive suspension. Some lifts note “not compatible with adaptive suspension”.

Driving in sport mode isn’t necessarily a bad thing with that lift given the quicker rebound rates.

What spring kit did you use? Please let us know how the ride quality is!

What size tires do you have? I did a 1 1/2” custom lift (dealer here in Denver did it), and currently have 275/60/20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on it. Don’t love the tires, and think I can fit 275/65/20. Thinking about switching to either KO2 or Falken AT3. Any thoughts b/w those options, or other options?

Love the look of yours. Mine is same color (Designo Graphite).

Can you describe the 1.5” lift? Is it a spring lift? How’s the ride? Does the dealer sell the lift?

Thanks In advance!

New custom springs. Yes, dealer service dept can source them (MB of Littleton).

Except for the tires, I like the ride. Definitely better for off-road. Still handles very good on road. I drive aggressive, and it’s not a Cayenne. Body roll is slightly more noticeable than stock, but performance is still shockingly good for a truck that sits this high.

Glad I did it, but probably wouldn’t do it on a G63. I also have the Renntech tune. Definitely recommend that.

I go back and forth about wanting a sporty car. Love the G. Hard for one car to do everything, but it’s close.

JPKnupp, thanks for the great info!

Called MB Littleton about the springs a few days ago but they are yet to get back to me. By any chance, are your new springs blue? I’m thinking they might be the H&R lift springs for the new G?

Also, can you comment more on the Renntech tune? Noticeably more acceleration? Any increase in lag?

Thank you in advance!

Checking Connections for adaptive suspension

I had the dealer check out the car and error codes for all four tires pop up. Not too impressed where those connections are located anyway. Southern mud is not that forgiving. I did not have all the cables replaced.

Does your G have adaptive suspension?

Tire Typo Correction

The tires are about 32” tall with 275/55R20. Any taller and I would have rubbing in a tight turn with a bounce. I did not want any rubbing. It would have bent the air vent fins in the wheel well.

Hey Southern was the problem resolved and if so how. i am about to begin a project of lifting a 2017 G550 with the adjustable suspension and this exact question keeps coming to mind.

Just thinking out loud here, that tow setup with the extension might be a problem too considering what it does to your tow capacity. I don’t know how much you are towing of course...

I agree -- check the sticker that's pasted on the tow bracket underneath the vehicle. Maximum length from the hitch pin to the ball centerline is spec'd at 7.5". If the spare tire interferes with what you're towing, best to unmount the spare.

What is it about the Grapplers you don't like? I'm thinking about putting a set on my Rubicon next year, but am interested in knowing your experience with them.

Tire sizes without lift

Hi. I have a brand new 2021 G400. Standard tires are 275/50/R20. I want to change to 275/55/R20 or 285/50/R20. Does anyone have experience with something like that? Thanks

There are several other forum posts on this topic, but briefly, 275/55R20 tires fit without any interference problems. This tire is about 14mm/0.54" larger in radius that leads to about 3% error in your speedometer and odometer (e.g., your speed will be about 67 mph when the speedometer reads 65, and your mileage at 10,000 will be about 10,300. See the website https://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp for a visual comparison on all dimensional specs.
