Boat Load of New G63s

Yesterday there were 8 new G Wagens listed with cars.com. Today there are 103. Mostly 63’s. Looks like a huge shipment has been released from port.

Just want to give a heads up before some desperate person pays $50k over sticker for a Christmas gift for themself or significant other. Cheers.

ive called for many of dealers many say they are spoken for (special order) and then lots of dealers are still trying to sell at 30k over msrp. But I think eventually before the end of the year it will come down in price.

Make that over 200 today! And this is the 1st shipment of the 2020s.. Looks like MB has ramped up production nicely! Expect at least 400 per month going forward.

you think that many? That would be great should make finding one at msrp much easier!

I think many of them are already sold. I picked up our preordered G63 today and it shows up online (same VIN) on all the sites (autotrader, CarGurus, etc)

I assume that is the case for most dealers, as they take in inventory they have a pipeline that posts them online.

I bet the inventory is going to drop quickly in the next few days as people take delivery since there was a backlog of a month of production that just got released at once.

Its not, its the automatic system supply system that even Benz's website does the same thing. It'll show inventory thats already presold as being available. Show up to a dealer a month ago cash in hand ready to buy only to be told that A) they weren't in inventory yet, and B) those were customer order cars.

Keep in mind there are over 300 dealers. Even at 400/mo which will fluctuate it doesn't leave a lot of inventory. Especially in the major metropolitan markets.
Allocations have not increased to the dealers

These are virtually all sold cars. Mercedes automatically puts them on the dealers website inventory when they hit port. From there they go onto autotrader, etc.
In a weeks time you will see these cars are no longer listed on the dealer websites.

Mostly sold, our manhattan store was just notified about the release of the 20's. Still a 2 year waiting list from what I have heard.

There is no 2 year waiting period anywhere! At least not at any of the dealers in my area. Most dealers want you to believe that it will take forever to get one to justify the hype and lock in your order now. Fact is in 2019 MBUSA sold a record number of Gs and 2020 will probably exceed that record number significantly so it is just a matter of 1 year before the market is saturated especially at this price level!I I would guess by the end of 2020 with almost 12,000 Gs sold in the US market most dealers will have them available in the showrooms and maybe even discounted by the end of the year! 6000 cars per year costing an average $155 K each when factoring the G550/G63 mix is not sustainable for very long!!!

There isn't really a lock in for order, in fact a dealer would rather not have pre-orders that are customized to a specific taste and have someone not purchase it at the end.

I believe the demand is actually very high, sales seem to be up 50% over the best year for the old body style. But after now driving one I can see why there is such high demand, there isn't a single car on the market that compares. For the G63, there isn't a single SUV that has the power, the sound, the luxury, the off-road capability and presence. They managed to actually keep or improve on the things that make it a G wagen but fix some of the annoying parts (and get rid of the the c-class interior.)

It doesn't compare at all to a GLS, GLE, X5, X7, Land Rover, etc. It is more like an Urus or something in that category. And if you think about it like that, it's an amazing deal (even with a mark up.)

Now, if we head into a recession I am certain there will be a drop in demand and you will be able to pick them up with a nice discount (but that goes for any car, it will be interesting to see how much those older Porsches drop in price.)

Even the old models didn't have discounts on them (unless it was a bad color combo or something). I assume Mercedes will just reduce production rather than have them sit on lots and give out discounts. This isn't a volume play and there is no reason for Mercedes to do that. Its a similar car as the E63s wagon in the US, you don't seem many for sale. Majority are special orders.

In a market like NYC there surely can be a wait list that long. Here in Dallas there is a 18 month wait on an ordered G also. Sales at these prices are indeed sustainable for years to come as the G has been increasing in sales every single year since 2009. The only year they didn't increase year over year was 2018 which was a model change over, that disrupted the supply. The market for this vehicle is not even close to being saturated yet.

Looks like MB is cranking them out very fast! New/Untitled inventory on Autotrader has not dropped below 100 cars for the last month and local dealer just told me if I place my order today, I can have it by August so I decided to wait a bit until mid February or March in order to push it into 2021.
