I recently washed my G63. Cleaning the wheels and tires with soap and water. I dried it and put it back in the garage. Using an electric blower to dry the wheels. The next day I put it in reverse and let off the brake and the G didn't move. I gave it a little gas and heard a pop from the front passenger side of the vehicle. It then back out normally and drove normally. Later I noticed that my passenger side rotor has areas of rotor rust that was not being "cleaned" off by the pads in certain circular areas. Theory -- my pads were adhered to the rotor and were damaged after moving the vehicle? The driver's side is normal. I live about 2.5 hours from the dealer so I sent them the pictures. They thought something got caught under the pad that damaged the rotor. May need to replace both front rotors and pads ($4500 not warranted). They have yet to see the vehicle in person. Anyone else have this issue with their G63? Driver's side Passenger side

****. that sucks. yeah it seems like something caught under the pad. but it has to be something serious to cause that much damage to your rotor. yikes $4500 for rotors. try a 3rd party company instead of MB (if you want to save some coin).
My advice drive it 200 to 300 miles with some hard braking and it will all be gone. Most likely surface rust on the rotors that will self polish off.
what he says. It’s very common for a thin rust layer to form after washing but it goes away after hard braking. I also wash my cars myself as a bonding / hobby and see it all the time. This looks a little uneven wear but hard braking might be able to address it.
I have an appointment next week for Mercedes to look at it. I have driven it about 500 miles since noticing the rotor issue (with hard braking from interstate speeds). It hasn't changed. In my original picture you can see a small circular area within the rust circle on the rotor. I believe this is where the brake pad was adhered to the rotor. It took a significant amount of gas to break the G free when trying to back out of the garage. I wish there was a way to disengage the parking brake after parking. It sets automatically after turning the engine off. When you try to disengage it, the dash display reads, "You must start the ignition before releasing the parking brake." I don't know if the e-brake just sets the rear brakes or front and rear. But obviously the pad was touching the rotor after I parked the car for it to adhere to the rotor. I've had cars that the rotors rusted after washing, but it wasn't an issue because I don't set the parking brake in my flat garage. I hope Mercedes will replace the pads under warranty because I feel something was defective with the pad if a chunk of it broke off. This area of the pad no longer contacts the rotor and that's why the rust circle on the rotor hasn't been cleaned off. I'll keep you posted.

Again, sooner or later the rusted section will touch the brake pad and will be all rubbed off. Just a matter of how thick is the rust. Maybe another 50 miles or another 1000 miles. Other than a bit of squeezing and vibration while braking you are not hurting anything by waiting and probably will end up saving yourself $4500
I have a 2017 Range Rover Supercharged that did the same exact thing on the passenger side after a hand wash...took it to the dealer and they said faulty pad (it disintegrated) and replaced under warranty (both pads/rotors) on both sides...vehicle had @ 7500 miles .....the servicing dealer was the dealer I purchased from...not sure that helped,,,but??? Not sure if my auto parking brake was engaged at the time or not---IMO---just say you washed the car and dried in a climate controlled garage and this developed ...you and I know the hair dryer couldn't cause any problems ...but dealerships tend to look for something to place blame on the customer....Good Luck and Cheers
