20’ G Infotainment screen went black

I’ve had my 20’ G550 for 3 days now.

This morning the screen turned on but was all black.

Turned vehicle off and on again, now it’s not lighting up at all.

yes, I’ve tried the “on” button and pressing every button on the console.

Any ideas?

No more MB:(
Too much tech in these modern cars.

Disconnect your battery for about 20 minutes, reconnect and try again. If that does not work you will have to take her in.

Did a wider google search. Apparently a common occurrence across all MB cars with COMAND.

First step seems to be to reset the system. (Press and hold infotainment “on” button until the screen starts up).

If that doesn’t work, try pulling COMAND associated fuses in fuse box or disconnect the battery.

Will try these after work and report back.

By the way.. I’m in love with it

No, not as raw, or loud, as my 16 G63 was but it’s such a nicer experience overall.

Also, anybody notice “Sand” mode.. that was an unexpected feature in the G550 for me (yes I know it’s standard on the 63).

Selenite Grey? I am debating whether to get it or Silver, but the wife is leaning toward the Grey since she will be the primary driver.

Please tell us if you get it working.

Selenite... I’ve already gotten complements on the color from people at gas stations and I’ve only had it a few days.

Love how selenite almost has some blue undertones (to my eyes) in the light.

Very happy with color combo

Another color observation is the gloss black AC vents on the base interior package match the gloss black rims exactly. This adds to the overall interior themed on the exterior theme.

We were also looking at Mojave Silver but it looks like it has some tan in it, which we do not want...probably need to see the color in person.

Good luck with the screen and as with any problem always try the easy potential fixes first.

Happy to report holding the COMAND “on” button for 10-15 seconds for a manual reset worked!

Took a few attempts but all appears to be well now.

Glad to hear it, and disconnecting the battery would have done the same but the easiest way worked and more time to enjoy now.
