Ceramic tint
Anyone with experience with ceramic tint, as far as reducing heat, mainly from front windshield. It states 99%UV reduction. I now have all but windshield tinted. Am also going to put darkest on sunroof, I found a piece of insulation that fits between shade and sunroof glass, I never use the SR. If the ceramic helps, I may redo all tint, it’s too dark and reflection of vents prevent seeing side mirrors easily. And seeing at night is bad too.

I have used 70% ceramic and specifically 70% 3M Crystalline. Both work great for UV/Heat reduction, but the 3M is on another level. You can feel the difference when sitting in direct sunlight.

The biggest thing is for it to be very light on the windshield, but excellent heat resistance.

I always avoid , for my personal car to have front windshield tinted, no matter how light the tinting is.
The reason being, there will be extra reflection of interior to the inner windshield AT NIGHT.... from that tinting which will disturb my night vision on very dark road at and
more so if high degree cornering, hence front doors is the very light Crystalline 70.
I think it is that extra plastic-ky layer that made the reflection.
I use Crystalline 3M.
Front doors Crys-70 ( very light ). So wing rear view mirrors get best image and very dark S bends roads or junctions will be safer for me.
Rear doors Crys-40 ( darker)
Rear windshield Crys-70 --- Becareful here, often when the film is removed the heater wires get pulled too.
Pano roof sliding glass - Crys 40
Front windshield - NONE

I agree that when sun angle is right, front windshield without tinting is crazy hot in my tropical country.
But I have to make that sacrifice for the night drive.
When I was much younger, I do not tint my car ever, for best driving at night in rural areas, so dark those areas.

I don't want to rain on any parades... But if you live in the US, there are VERY FEW states where it is legal to tint your windshield. Assumption is that you want to tint the ENTIRE windshield (for the heat control)... but is illegal in most cases. Here in Texas, you can tint ONLY the top 5" of the windshield. The rest is a no-no.
I have 5% Llumar Ceramic tint on the top 5' of my windshield. It does nothing for heat control.
The tint shop should tell you the laws so you don't get too worked up over it.

This is why I use 70%. It is not perceptible to the eye. When I park all three of my cars side by side, there is no way to tell which one does not have the 70%.

I used the clearest Xpel tint on the front windshield for UV protection on the dash. I do think it has alot of heat reduction properties, being that it is clear, but I will take the UV protection on the dash to prevent dash issues.

We just very recently had replaced the windshield on our gls. I can assure you with 100% certainty that the tint on the windshield originally was not the good ceramic stuff. It is so obviously blocking so much more heat on what's on the car now as opposed to what was on the car last week.
the guy who did the window tinting told us that he could do the exact same tent one would block the heat one would not block the heat. For us, the difference is very clear

That is exactly the kind of reponce I was looking for. Nothing beats an A and B comparison by the same person in the same vehicle. What brand, and did the installer mention if one ceramic tint was better than another? Just curious.
Thank you so much OldMan...

I am not certain, to sound like an arrogant fool - I asked for "the best" (it is 3M, and I know it is "Ceramic").
We got a piece from the the windshield that was taken out so that we could match the level of 'tint' as it would be. So, we got the exact same level of tint (second from the lowest)...and, as I said, the heat difference is so noticeable. Tint level being equal (the other tint was "the good stuff" that was put on by Mercedes Benz of Miami when the car was purchased new....
I have no tint on the windshield of the E63S...it will be tinted before the month is over.
As for state laws....Pffffffffft. Get a freaking RX from your eye (or other) doctor and tell the cops to pound sand. Just keep it in the glove box in the name of the owner of the car.
