Amazing ride. I keep the suspension on Sport the whole drive, Exhaust on or else.

whenever I read a post written by you as I G owner ... I smile; happy in the knowledge that our G is coming soon ! :-)

I am of athletic build, 5'10" 170#. This truck was everything I was hoping for from a road presence and driving position, but that's where it stops. Long highway stints I was experiencing driver fatigue. The wind noise on the highway, and weight of the steering wheel take its tool after an hour. I would honestly stick with the Land Cruiser, or try a Range Rover if she can give up some reliability. I thought about going land cruiser or range, had good luck with my 17, but I'm going to give the X7 a try. Test drove M50i last weekend, and wow, what a rig for a family of 5.
I’m sorry it hasn’t been everything you wanted it to be :-( ... hopefully you’ll move onto something you love. At least you’ve reached the goal of owning one which is fabulous as it appears to have been a dream goal.

Bummer to hear that. My 2016 RR LWB has been an amazing vehicle. Super comfortable and no reliability issues at all. Have a 2020 LWB model due to arrive in May and my dream G63 end of April. Only keeping one of the two so fingers crossed that I love the G. Potential issue is I'm 6'3" so we'll see. I'm like you though and have wanted one forever but prior gen was definitely too small.

Fester are you still loving driving the G63 more than the RR (your reliability issues notwithstanding...)? I know you've had both.

Another data point: I am 6'3" and 200 lbs and have no problem at all fitting in a 2020 G63. No issues with it being cramped or otherwise. In our 2013 G550 I did lots of road trips (drove from Calgary to Seattle in one shot once, etc.) and I didn't find it to be uncomfortable.

It does have atypical ergonomics and it just doesn't work well for some people.

Also my wife (who is 5'3") never wanted our 2013 and refused to drive it. Then she did once and now she loves G wagens (and is always wanting to drive it.)

Very helpful post. Keeping my dream alive of loving the G63 as it will become my daily driver replacing the RR.

A sincere "thank you" for all of the feedback, comments and observations (good and bad). I'm optimistic that a G 63 will work out well for us. Now, the wait begins...

2020 G63
So much comes down to not just your body shape, but the way you like to 'feel' when you drive. Two cases in point with vehicles on this same thread - I just traded my 2019 X7 (with lux seating) while I wait for my G63. I owned 2016 and 2018 Range Rovers.

You sit *in* a BMW, X7, M3, or i8. You sit *on* a Range Rover (well, the good ones... ;p).

I could never get my X7 seat to the "Command"-like driving position I loved in my RR (not the 2018- onwards with the awful seats, but the 2016). I've yet to drive a G63, but I hopeful it'll fall into the 'on' vs 'in' category. I owned a Cayenne Turbo for about 3 weeks (between Rovers) and hated it - because it was neither 'on' or 'in', and at 5'10 and a ~athletic 190lbs I just couldn't get comfortable in the seat.

The upside of a "mistake" G-wagen purchase, is that you're not losing the upsetting amount of cash you do if you make a mistake with a Rover... :\

Funny

I had a 2018 SC full size rover, traded my 2017 for it

I hated the seats..traded it in 6 months after I got it. I'm not sure how they screwed up do bad

2017 SVA rover is sweet spot

On G63 I ordered base seats..and they are wonderful

Very well said! You'll get the command drive you are after with the G, but be prepared for more wind noise that was not found in your Rovers or X7. We live in more rural type area, with not a whole lot of city driving, so we regularly are driving on open roads at 75-85mph. So far me, that's where the X7 will shine.

Absolutely. Make sure you test drive both with, and without, the rear-wheel steering though. Mine had it, and I think it was a mistake - it makes the car somewhat skittish at speed. Handled the bumps better than the Rover though, even with 22" wheels!

G63s and a few others
Helpful thread. My G63 is arriving in early may. I am excited but very nervous about getting rid of my 2019 Range Rover which I absolutely love and find very comfortable.

you sit on a g63. As good as 2012 RRs. 2013 RRs and up weren’t as commanding in terms of seating as previous gen.
